Shavua tov. We hope everyone had a safe and meaningful Shabbat. On Friday, we received communication from the JCC, which explains that the JCC will be closing starting *tonight* through the end of March. In light of the closure and to continue to limit the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and to protect those who are most vulnerable, DC Minyan will not be holding services this coming Shabbat morning, March 21. Stay tuned for information regarding subsequent planned services and programs, as well as ways to stay connected in this difficult time of social distancing. If you would like to propose or help organize a virtual program, please email [email protected].

03/13/2020

Due to the continuing spread of COVID-19 and the potential threat the virus is posing to our community and our healthcare system, the Steering Committee has decided to cancel services this evening, Friday, March 13. We do not take this decision lightly. We are taking this step to limit the risk of transmission of the virus and to protect those who are most vulnerable.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Thank you to everyone who participated in Good Deeds Day and to all who donated and purchased items for the families! We had a great showing and collected so much stuff. Thank you to everyone in the community, and our Social Action team, for stepping up. A special shoutout to Alisha Deluty, who helped with planning and ex*****on.

As part of the Federation's Good Deeds Day, DC Minyan is co-sponsoring an event with the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington and in collaboration with HIAS. We will be assembling care packages for families seeking asylum who are in need of various basic items for their young children.

There are two ways to participate:

1. We need your help collecting and purchasing items for the care packages in advance! Please indicate here (https://goo.gl/8TMfdr) if you have any items you would like to donate and someone will reach out to you to coordinate drop off/pick up. We will also have bins for collecting items at DC Minyan throughout April, so feel free to bring your donations to shul instead. There is also an Amazon wishlist (https://goo.gl/b5pksG) where you can make small but impactful purchases to help out.

2. Please sign up for our Good Deeds Day event (https://goo.gl/7xS4fS) which will take place at the Edlavitch DCJCC on Sunday April 29th, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. This event is family-friendly and will involve assembling the care packages and decorating cards to be included with them.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated and we look forward to seeing you on the 29th!
