ICYMI: The Biden-Harris administration announced $970 million for upgrades at 114 airports to meet growing air travel demands. ACI-NA applauds Congress for passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act in 2021, which provided much-needed infrastructure funding for our airports.
“There’s a lot of money out there, and Congress has been generous,” said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin Burke, who added that the government’s prioritizing the passenger experience is novel. “But it’s not enough to be able to solve the long-term problem,” he said, “which is enough infrastructure money to be able to modernize all of our airports.”
Infrastructure money is helping airports add toilets, gates and boarding bridges Airports laud the funding as a “game changer” for modernizing terminals but say it lags far behind their needs for critical upgrades.
