WHS Senior Wins a National Merit Scholarship!
WHS senior Owen Bartosh has accomplished an exceptional feat; he has become a winner of the 2024 National Merit Scholarship! Owen was one of the 1.3 million participants who took the PSAT in October 2022, and his high scores allowed him to advance in the scholarship competition along with 50,000 other participants. In September 2023, he was named one of the 16,000 Semifinalists, meaning he had to complete the National Merit Scholarship application materials. Owen met all the scholarship requirements and advanced to the Finalist round in this highly competitive scholarship competition. The National Merit Scholarship winners were selected from the group of Finalists based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. Owen’s win is a testament to his exceptional abilities, as just over 0.5% of the 1.3 million scholarship contest entrants earn a National Merit Scholarship.
Today, we celebrate the achievement of WHS senior Owen Bartosh, who has won a 2024 National Merit Scholarship!

Yesterday our 4th graders got to participate in Ag Day. They rotated through beef, sheep, swine, wheat, corn, and health stations. Our students represented Waxahachie ISD like champs! We always appreciate Southwest/Southland Dairy Farmers and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service for providing this learning opportunity each and every year!

We are so lucky to have these servant leaders in our district! Thanks for all that you do on a daily basis!

It's May 1st, and we begin this month celebrating our Principals! We cannot thank them enough for all they do for their campuses and staff! You are all appreciated!

We are SO proud of our 4th-grade students who participated in the Waxahachie Cowboy Gathering Youth Poet Contest. It’s not easy to put your thoughts in writing and hand it off to strangers! We want to say special congratulations to Mila Daniels, Ian Moss, and Mia Escobar for being our top 3 finalists. Their poems will be published in The Waxahachie Sun newspaper, they will have an opportunity to read/recite their poem, and they will receive a prize at the Waxahachie Cowboy Gathering on April 13th at noon at the Pocket Park downtown (107 S. David Smith, cowboy poet, visited Felty Elementary School - Waxahachie ISD 4th graders today! Another great audience with great questions. **The poetry competition deadline has been extended to March 20th for all 4th and 7th graders!** Poems need to be submitted to your child’s teacher whether he/she works on it in class or at home over Spring Break. 🙂

Attendance seems to drop during the spring semester. Please make sure that your child is healthy and present these last few weeks of school! Many thanks to our Waxahachie Education Foundation for the incentive!
