Congratulations to Tobias Jara who has been awarded the Welcome to Wichita $5,000 Scholarship to attend Wichita State University for this Fall semester.

Today is the last day to sign up to this summer class where you will have the opportunity to learn Guaraní!!🤩
The course is tuition free and it is a great opportunity to learn a new language and earn credits towards your degree.
It is going to be taught by the instructor David Martinez 100% online. David is Paraguayan and he grew up speaking guaraní so it will be an amazing opportunity to learn from him!
Every year on February 24th, we celebrate the “Day of Paraguayan Women” commemorating the first assembly of American women that took place in 1867. Over the years, the day has grown to encompass a broader recognition of women’s roles in Paraguayan society and the nation’s development. Acknowledging and celebrating the contributions of women across different sectors, including culture, education, and more.
This day serves as a reminder of the vital role of Paraguayan women in shaping the country’s history and future.
Feliz día de la mujer paraguaya🇵🇾❤️
Join us for a mouthwatering Cookout this Saturday, February 24th! Meet our Social Media Manager!🤩
To tell you a little bit about myself I am currently a junior pursuing a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry. I have been doing research in developmental biology at DAISY lab at Wichita State for a year now and couldn’t be more passionate about research. My goal is to be a scientist one day!🤩👩🏻🔬
I also work at the Shocker Learning Center where I am a tutor and also hold the position of Suplemental Instruction Leader of general chemistry. This is my second semester in the position and I’m also loving it! It made me discover how enjoyable teaching and leadership can be.
Even though I am becoming a big science girly I have an artistic background🎭🎶. In Paraguay I was very involved in theater and cinema industry! I started drama school when I was 9 years old and didn’t stop until I was 18 and decided to come to the 🇺🇸. The cinema and theater industry gifted me many useful skills that I use every day! For example it gave me marketing, budgeting and social skills.
My goal as the social media manager of the Paraguayan Student Association is to put together all the skills that these different areas of my life gifted me to create a space where the new incoming Paraguayans students can view WSU as their home away from home🌾🇵🇾❤️.
I am sure that with this excellent team we will create an awesome environment!! I’m excited for all the good things that are coming🙂
Meet our Event Coordinator!!🤩
As an international graduate student at Wichita State, I dedicate my extra time to student organizations that I passionately support. Currently, I hold the position of President in the Innovation Design student organization, where our goal is to promote a deep understanding of essential principles in the interdisciplinary field of innovation design.
On the other hand, as the event coordinator in the Paraguayan student association, I am enthusiastic about organizing events that not only share the culture and traditions of Paraguay but also embody the Paraguayan warmth and sense of community.
I am currently pursuing a master's in innovation design and have a background in Electronics Engineering and Paraguayan Traditional Dance. I consider myself passionate about learning, very adventurous, and I love traveling around the world.
Living abroad has taught me the importance of community, and it has made me realize how deeply I miss Paraguayan culture. I believe the PSA is my home away from home here in Wichita.
Being able to share Paraguayan values, culture, and traditions with other students who are interested in learning about Paraguay is one of the most important aspects of this student organization. I look forward to seeing all the things we will accomplish together.
Meet our Treasurer!!🤩
Diego Martinez - Treasurer
As a 20-year-old sophomore student majoring in Economics, I have been striving to engage in campus activities since the last semester. Recently, I have been voted to be the secretary of the Cummings Student Managed Investment Fund, and I am an active member of the Economists Anonymous Club at the Barton School of Business. My previous experiences working on organizations include founding an NGO in Paraguay, where I served as a vice-president for a semester and focused on managing our budget and raising funds due to the lack of a treasurer.
During my leisure time, I enjoy going to the gym, reading economics/business books, participating in networking events, and watching Formula One. My vision for the role consists of providing accurate financial information to the team so we can succeed in our activities and thereby promote Paraguayan culture at WSU on a sustainable approach.
Meet our Secretary!!🤩
Charles Thompson - Secretary
I am Charles Thompson, an undergraduate student at Wichita state. I am the Secretary for the Paraguayan Student Association Executive Team, this allows me to be involved in the organization and use my enablement skills to ease processes and organize ideas.
I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Engineering Technology. I specialize in mechatronic systems within the concentration program of the degree. My passion for this field stems from its integration of real-life aspects with algorithms and electronic components.
For me, being part of the PSA is a way to be involved and contribute to a community that has welcomed me while living and studying abroad. It’s a way to return the favor on all the experiences I gained thanks to this organization.
Meet our Vice President!!💛
As the Vice President of the Paraguayan Student Association at Wichita State University, I am proud to represent a community that is not just an organization, but a family. I am committed to fostering a welcoming and vibrant environment where every member feels at home. Our association is a melting pot of culture, support, and academic excellence. We celebrate our Paraguayan heritage while embracing the diverse backgrounds of all our members. Together, we are a force of unity, learning, and growth, making our mark at WSU.
Meet our president!🤩
Fabrizio Montorfano-President
I am currently enrolled at WSU as a Senior persuing the degree of B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
As WSU Student I strongly believe that it is really important being involved in campus extra curricular activities as being part of the students organizations. Currently, I am also President of WSU Student Branch of the IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering), I have been elected in Fall 2023.
I believe that is through this kind of activities that you have the opportunity to meet new people and complement your academic preparation.
Congratulations Yumi Kikuchi! 🎉🎉🎉
