Burn ban issued for 26 North Carolina counties due to hazardous forest fire conditions

Due to increased fire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits for the following North Carolina counties: Anson, Beaufort, Bladen, Brunswick, Carteret, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Duplin, Greene, Harnett, Hoke, Jones, Lee, Lenoir, Moore, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, Pitt, Richmond, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland and Wayne.

The burning ban goes into effect at noon Monday, May 24, and will remain in effect until further notice.

C shift getting some training in while having a recruit ride along for the day.

We would like to remind everyone that when approaching an intersection with traffic lights that are out due to power outage, it should be treated as a 4 way stop as stated in NC GS 20-158b section 6. Stay safe Wilmington.

As we are well into the dumpster fire known as 2020, remember that we are also in the middle of the hurricane season. Be safe out there Wilmington.

The Wilmington Fire Department is now accepting applications for the 2020 Fall Citizens Fire Academy. This FREE 8-week course meets every Thursday evening, from 6-9 pm. SPACE IS LIMITED!! Must be 18 y/o.

Truck 7 A shift went out to CFCC training center to assist captain T. Hughes with teaching ladders to recruit class 2020.

E7, T7 and E15 were called for automatic aid with NHCFR E18, T18 & E19 for a detached garage fire back in November.

Station 7 is home to WFD’s Foam operations equipment. Here is a group getting some hands on training with one of the two foam units housed here.

An organized hose bed pays out cleanly and quickly. This is an adaption of a “Seattle” hose load that allows the driver to see how many feet of hose is laid out so they can set the correct pump pressure with a quick glance. The last photo is 200’ of 2.5” packed in a Minute man for easy deployment from a rear discharge.
