Cape Fear Workforce Development Board
CFWDB supports local workforce development in Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender counties
An excellent opportunity to showcase the amazing resources available in the Cape Fear region and collaborate in shaping the workforce of tomorrow.
Making smart investments in workforce development with a focus on intentional inclusion.
It was an honor to have our Chairman presenting at the NCWorks Partnership Conference today along with two of his colleagues on the North Carolina Association of Workforce Development Boards. Rodney Carson is the President of the NCAWDB and Graham Fields is the Chair of the Mountain Area Workforce Development Board . Our own Jim Flock is the Vice President of the NCAWDB as well as Chair of the Cape Fear Workforce Development Board. Together they presented the three-year strategic plan for the NCAWDB.
Our partnerships with community colleges and service organizations across the region give us opportunities to tell stories like this every day. We could not be happier for Andrew and his WIOA team in Brunswick County.
The WIOA and NCWorks team in Brunswick County could not be more proud of Andrew Burgmuller. He is a military veteran and that alone is worthy of admiration. But he came back home after his discharge and decided to go back to school, which is also extremely difficult. Wisely, he turned to our team for a bit of guidance and support. He did all the hard work, but we are so happy to have been a part of his journey in our partnership with Brunswick Community College!
"I have said time and time again that WIOA is the best kept secret at Brunswick Community College. Tell someone about WIOA and let them in on this amazing group of people who are out to see you succeed. “

Gregory Weaver was scheduled for an enrollment 1/3/23, and was set to exit by 4/6/23. He is a true go-getter. He accomplished every goal and objective that we set together and kept his Career Advisor informed of each milestone completed along the way. He completed his Truck Driver Training at Cape Fear Community College in Castle Hayne, NC on 3/20/23. He found full-time employment as a Truck Driver at Carolina Ready-Mix LLC in Ocean Isle, NC and started on 4/10/23. Here are some photos of Gregory on the job.
