Of the best news ever.

You’ve got the best story ever to publish!
You’ve got a runaway best seller in your hands!
No need for any editing or proofing –
You’ve got the goods already in Christ,
May you publish it wide!

The Secret to Trusting God

Want to trust God more?
Receive the deepest blessing,
The deepest assurance:

God is FOR you.

We only trust someone
Who is FOR us.

Of course.

It is folly to trust a foe.
It is silly to submit to an adversary.
It is nonsense to believe a deceiver.

We trust only to the degree
That we BELIEVE
The other is FOR us.

Trust the One who proved
That He is totally, 100 percent,
Forever FOR you.

“Greater love has no one than this,
That He lay down His life for you.” (John 15:13)

He is FOR you.
That’s why you can trust Him beloved,
He is FOR you.

A Blessing to Weep No More

“Thus says the Lord:
‘Keep your voice from weeping,
And your eyes from tears….” (Jer. 31:16)

There is a time to weep
And there is a time to lift your head!

There is a time to mourn your losses
And there is a time to imagine your gains!

There is a time to remember what once was
And there is a time to rejoice in what will be!

As surely as the Hebrew people
Would return from exile,
So you shall be restored
By the grace of God.

I bless you to feel
The soft stroke of the Savior’s hand
Wiping every wet tear from your face
As He whispers secrets of grace
Into your soul.

Sometimes you need to cry
And sometimes you need to
Let Him “keep your voice from weeping”
Because there is so much good to come.
So much good to come,
Child of God,
So much good to come.

I bless you to
Envision,
Enjoy,
And embrace
The generational blessings
That have snuck into your life,
Without you knowing it—
Passed down to you,
Like osmosis,
Like air you’ve breathed.

“The Lord, the Lord, … keeping
Steadfast love to a thousand generations” (Ex. 34:6-7).

Today is my father’s birthday.
He would have been 88.
He was a TV pioneer—
The weatherman, then newsman.
His made stories sing,
More like poetry than journalism.
He dug deep for truth,
He dared to stand against racism in the ‘50s,
And he told me bedtime spy stories.

So, I claim it!
I’m a Good News man,
Digging deep, taking a stand,
Telling the story.

No matter how much you missed,
Something good from your father
Came into your life for good!
May you take it, child of God,
Take it!

Child of God,
“You … are not in the flesh
But in the Spirit…” (Romans 8:9).

You have flesh,
But you aren’t fleshly –
You aren’t defined by the old sin nature.
You aren’t trapped in carnal ways.

You are in the Spirit—
Filled
Equipped
Strengthened
By the Spirit.

United
Completed
Renovated
By the Spirit.

Led.
Taught.
Comforted.
By the Spirit.

You aren’t “in the flesh”
You are “in the Spirit.”
Deep unto deep,
Spirit unto spirit.
May you live today
In the Spirit.

The Path to Lasting Hope

Hope comes by a process.

It isn’t listed in the Galatians 5 fruit of the Spirit.
It isn’t mentioned in Romans or Corinthians as a gift of the Spirit.

Hope comes as a domino
Tumbling gloriously into our lives
As an inevitable sequence of pain and grace
Cycles in our lives:

“Suffering produces endurance,
and endurance produces character,
and character produces hope” (Rom. 5:3-4).

I’d prefer a shortcut
But there is no easy button
For the kind of godly hope
That endures and prevails and anchors—
Hope that is assured of future blessedness,
Hope that faces down all manner of disappointment,
Hope that doesn’t weaken or wilt or waste away,
That sort of hope in God
Comes by a process:

Suffering - the heavy weight of challenge, leads to
Endurance - bearing under the adversity by grace, leads to
Character - virtue and wisdom grounded in revelation, leads to
Hope - not wishful thinking, but assurance of blessedness no matter what.

In a hopeless world,
I bless you to be filled with hope,
Though it be forged in fire,
Be filled with hope.

A Way Out of Sin

There is a way out.
There is a way forward.
There is way of victory.
There is always a way with God.

After mentioning himself 40 times
In Romans chapter seven –
Forty “I’s” and “my’s,”
Forty “I do not do what I wants”
And “I know that nothing good dwells in my flesh,”
Paul lets out the cry
That every struggler must eventually cry:

“Who will deliver me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24)

No longer “I” or “My” but “Who?”

When you’ve struggled long enough
And hard enough
That you become empty enough
To know that you aren’t enough,
I bless you to cry with Paul for deliverance,
And join the triumph:

“Thanks be to God … through Jesus Christ!” (Romans 7:25)
There is a way: the Way.
Jesus delivers God’s people from evil.

You’ve got some new clothes!

In Christ, you have the privilege
Of putting off the
Old Self
And putting on the
New Self,
Which is being renewed
In Knowledge
After the image
Of the Creator. (Col.3:5)

So, I’m blessing you to enjoy
Your new spring apparel.

The new garb looks great on you!

Compassion, kindness, humility,
Meekness, patience, forgiveness,
And love (Col. 3:12-14)
Fit you perfectly.

You can throw out the old,
Dusty, tattered stuff—
Your new wardrobe
Is much more fashionable in the kingdom.

All Things Are Yours

Receive this startling,
Mind-bending blessing from Paul’s pen,
The Word of God to all believers:

“All things are yours.”

What?
How?
Why would God tell us that?

Receive the more full text:

“So let no one boast in men.
For all things are yours,
Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas
Or the world or life or death
Or the present or the future—
All are yours,
And you are Christ’s,
And Christ is God’s.” (1 Cor. 3:21-23, ESV)

No need to boast in men.
No need to say “I’m with Apollos”
Or “I’m in the Cephas clique”.
No need to do anything to prove yourself
Or be popular or boast at all.

Why?

Because everything essential for life
And purpose and blessedness
Has already been given to you in Christ!

When you know you’re rich with every spiritual blessing
Insecurities melt away and covetousness evaporates.

All things are yours in Christ.

A Blessing for Boldness

“No man
Shall be able
To stand before you
All the days
Of your life.
Just as I was with Moses,
So I will be with you.” (Joshua 1:5)

Joshua was God’s heir.
Canaan was God’s promise.
And, therefore,
No one could stop God’s general
Because God’s presence
Always backs up His word.

You are God’s heir
And His promises to you
Are just as sure as they
Were to Joshua.
Therefore, whatever God
Calls you to do,
You will be able to do.

Forces may oppose you,
But, in the end,
Will not remain standing.
Because,
Just as God was with Moses,
And with Joshua,
He will be with you.

I bless you,
Heir of God’s grace,
To stay bold in His name!
“No man
Shall be able to stand before you
All the days of your life!”

You aren’t designed to flap
Your wings
Frantically,
Futilely,
Until you run out of fuel.

You are made to soar.

They who wait upon the Lord shall
Renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings
Like eagles. (Is. 40:31)

In wearisome times,
I bless your spirit to soar—
To find the updrafts of God’s grace
In Christ,
To feel the currents
Of His Spirit
And fly.

The long days of waiting
Are giving your wings a chance to grow.
Your spirit can sense the wind of the Holy Spirit,
And soar.

And that’s the Gospel!

A Blessing to Persevere

I bless you to keep sowing
Because …
In due season
You will reap! (Gal. 6:9)

Hell can’t crush your crop.
The adversary can’t foil your fruit.

So…
“Let us not grow weary of doing good,
For in due season we will reap,
If we do not give up.” (Gal. 6:9)

The question isn’t whether the seed will sprout.
The question is whether we can bear to wait it out.

You have some good seed in the ground—
Every prayer has been a seed,
Every gift given has been a seed,
Every kind word uttered, that, too,
A seed.

The seed will sprout
And grow
And produce sweet fruit
Some day.

You can keep sowing,
You can keep going,
When you keep knowing,
In due season,
You will reap!

A BLESSING TO OVERFLOW WITH FRUIT

May you overflow
With the Spirit’s fruit today.

Love … God’s affection, selflessness, generosity.
Joy …God’s laughter, light-heartedness, elation.
Peace … God’s serenity, wholeness, carefreeness.
Patience … God’s endurance, serenity, forbearance.
Kindness … God’s thoughtfulness, compassion, warmth.
Goodness … God’s benevolence, integrity, neighborliness.
Faithfulness … God’s devotion, reliability, vision.
Gentleness … God’s softness, approachability, tranquility.
Self-Control ... God’s stability, calm, composure.

That’s the Spirit’s
Fruit in you—
Overflow,
Child of God,
Overflow.

PEACE WITH GOD

I bless you today with the peace that matters most—
Peace with God.

It’s the peace proclaimed in Romans 5:1:
“Since we have been justified by faith,
We have peace with God
Through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Why the need for peace for God?

When two assume the same
Position of authority or dominion,
There is conflict.
When two claim absolute sovereignty
There is war.

Sin sought to dethrone God.
Sin put us at enmity with God.
So God, gracious and just,
Came to solve the problem.

God Himself paid the penalty—
A penalty that will never need other payment,
That you might be free and
Be at peace forever with God.

The hostility is over,
Child of God,
You are at peace with God.
