1 in 4 and 1 in 13 men experience childhood abuse (CDC)
The most likely person to abuse a child is their parent or legal guardian (76%). As a woman ages, the most likely person to abuse her is her partner.
The trauma of childhood abuse leads to disease. This is well researched, yet little funding goes into educating the public on: secure attachment, emotional intelligence, repair, generational trauma, and healthy family dynamics.
Young girls are conditioned to be “good” and to repress their anger. Their bodies carry the pain and memories of betrayal.
In the future we will understand how emotional pain can become physical disease.
Healthy family dynamics are quite literally: disease prevention.
We need to raise young girls in homes where their bodies are not objectified, where they can say “no” clearly and asset boundaries, and where they can express their (rightful) anger in healthy ways. We also need to stop creating people-pleasing “fixers” who put everyone else first as they sacrifice their own wellbeing.
