The Helderberg Baby Saver Celebrates 10 Years! Over the last ten years, the Helderberg Baby Saver has saved 13 babies from unsafe abandonment in Somerset West.

Is this not so much better to read, compared to reading about a baby found in a plastic bag or pit latrine?

Our hearts bleed for you but we are thankful that you chose the safe option for your baby. We pray you find comfort and peace.

We are thrilled to advise that our saver is once again functioning and operational 24 hours a day, every single day of the year! You can find our saver on the right hand wall of the Choices Crisis Pregnancy Centre, Schapenberg Road, Somerset West.

Does a baby saver encourage abandonment?

Just over 525 babies have been 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐲 relinquished through baby savers in the last 24 years.
Research from 2010 and 2016 show that around 3500 babies SURVIVE 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 abandonment every year and for every baby found alive, 2 are found dead!

So we ask again, does a baby saver encourage abandonment?

Sadly many babies are unsafely abandoned and for every baby found alive, 2 are found dead.
Baby Savers do save little lives!

More than 520 little lives have been saved. It could be so much more though. Too many babies are found dead because of unsafe abandonment. We need more Baby Savers in South Africa to save more lives.
