We end our term with a shadow week.🌟

D - Elani: Shadowed the industrial psychologist and HR personnel from Plennegy, and the HR business partner from Starke Ayres.

F - Sihle: Shadowed the Head of Sport Science at the Blue Bulls, a Sport Scientist, and a Senior Manager in Communications, PR, and Media at the Blue Bulls. (WOW)

Our students had the opportunity to come up with a business idea and present it to us and the fellow students. The students were well prepared and enjoyed presenting there different ideas.
There were many interesting business ideas such as;

Last Stamina session of Term 2 - a hug always helps after working on your fitness & flexibility! Our students go on their 2nd Shadow Week on Monday before the first half of the year welcomes a little holiday time.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of having two speakers come talk to us . One was a quantity surveyor and the other an import-export trader. It was very interesting to hear about the vastly different day-to-day activities of these careers.

Today’s visitor was a psychometrist/ Educational Leader. She gave us some great tips about the educational system from a perspective of someone who has recently been through it and works with it daily.

Today we were visited by a driving instructor!! This was good news for some of our students who have been hoping/trying to get their drivers licenses but haven’t had the best luck.😬

Today was jam-packed with two career visits one from a real estate agent and the next from a contractor / preacher . We are so grateful that they took the time today to share their wisdom with us.

Yesterday we had the privilege of having a Somerset West based lawyer come talk to us . We now have a much deeper understanding of the justice system.He told us about the importance of working hard but that you can play just as hard… once you’ve earned it 😋

Thursday - Career exposure!!!👨‍💼👩‍💼

We had the privilege of having a professional lawyer and medical engineer to come and speak to the students to give them a better understanding about the careers.

First career was Law(lawyer):
One whose profession is to conduct lawsuits for clients or to advise as to legal rights and obligations in other matters.

Second career was Medical engineering:
Medical engineering concerns the application of engineering principles to medical problems, including the replacement of damaged organs, instrumentation, and the systems of health care, including diagnostic applications of computers.

Completed our open water diving course with .

Had three pool sessions with different groups each day then did our ocean dive off the shore the one day and off the boat for the last day.
Clear sky’s and water, swimming through the kelp forest on the last day, was an amazing experience with some groups seeing sharks and other interesting fish. 🐠

Wow what a Professional week😎Our students interned / Shadowed all over Cape Town, Somerset West and Stellenbosch. Some of them worked crazy hours, others experienced interesting and insightful things about their career! ALL of them got to experience what it meant to be an working adult! Watch out world here comes the #2023

It was a very busy week and there was plenty to do, but friends of us phoned us and said they needed help. Even though it took us only 2-3 hours it saved them days of work.

Here at the we have learned: It’s not always about WHAT you do but really about WHY and HOW you do it.

Welcome to one week in the grown up world 👌😃🕴👨‍💻 Their first Shadow/intern week😎 So a while ago the students had the opportunity to shadow/intern at any company or in any professional career they wished to.

They worked from Monday to Friday and learned all about the career. They went in many different directions and showed a multitude of interest: physiotherapy, architecture, financial broker, car dealer, media, animal welfare, Entrepeneurship, surf and water sports sales and much more!

Now it was the ladies’ turn. And of course they did a fantastic job!
