Today, we're thrilled to share the story of Ondella,* one of the first mothers to start beading with Kidz Positive in 2003.

Living in her sister's RDP house in the Eastern Cape, Ondella is the sole breadwinner for her two children, aged 12 and 20, and also supports her sister's two children. The beadwork project, introduced to her by Dr. Paul Roux, began with simple looms and beads, providing a creative outlet and a source of income.

Despite the challenges, Ondella has found joy and purpose in creating beautiful beadwork, especially friendship bracelets on the loom. The project offers her not just financial support but also a way to relax and focus on something positive.

Ondella dreams of more orders so she can continue to support her family and pay the bills, especially after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
