Our vision is to amplify the use of the arts in communities to address inequality and intergenerational trauma and to assist in the development of psychosocial well-being.

"Transfer of knowledge. Thank you again. Yeboneers doing what you taught them." Feedback from Eleanor Louw, a Yeboneer Mentor, following our Trauma-Informed Psychosocial Resilience Workhops at Kaleo Farm in April this year. Made possible by The Waitrose Foundation - SA

The activity in this image is an embodied art making process that supports a new group to create together in a non-threatening way, and to elicit images from the collective unconscious in the room. These images build the foundation for further exploration through stories.

Our team was taught this activity by an amazing art counselor Phumzile Rakosa and she learned and adapted it via a training course in the UK. The sharing of knowledge and skills is a gift that we all have to build our communities together.

Thank you Nation Builder for gathering a group of passionate advocates at Workshop17 for wellbeing in the workspace in the social sector. We've heard from The Wellbeing Project that wellbeing inspires welldoing and we are grateful for the platform to share the role that arts-based practices can play in this field. We look forward to see what this collab comes up with over the next few months.

“But I think sometimes we also neglect that we inherit so much beauty from our ancestral archive. And resilience, joy, and so many, many things that I think we forget that we haven't just inherited trauma, but we've also inherited love and joy and gifts, and so many things.”

GroundSpring Playback Theatre Co.recently created a poignant storytelling experience at Theatre Arts in Cape Town with their production called Barriers and Bridges. Here's what some of the participants said:

"I was struck by the courage all round; the participants, stepping up and sharing their stories. But also the collective who leaned into their intuition and into one another to find the pulse and alchemy of the story and bring it to life on the stage. The facilitators were very skilled in holding the space for the witnesses (the audience) and also framing the story to its essence."

“I can’t explain how much I enjoyed that, it was absolutely magical! What an interesting, beautiful process, I am really moved and touched by it, by the artistry and skill and what you all brought to it."
