*Free Rapid Antigen Tests for those in need*
SistaHub have procured a limited amount of RAT’s for the Muslim community. Our priorities are those who are disabled, the elderly, single parents, parents of very young children, and so on.
The RAT’s will need to be collected from a secure location but in exceptional circumstances can be delivered.
The RAT’s are of the nasal swab variety and will need to be stored in a cool, dark place.
We will also provide a Resource Sheet that contains links and numbers to relevant organisations that provide medical, food relief and emergency services.
To access the RAT’s, a form will need to be filled out: https://www.sistahub.org/rapid-antigen-tests
SistaHub ran a COVID-19 Vaccine Community Forum in Dec 2021 to address some commonly asked questions regarding the COVID-19 vaccines.
The topics covered include: the contents of the vaccines, vaccines and pregnancy, vaccines for young children, and the impact of vaccines on transmission.
We are extremely grateful to our panellists who devoted their time and energy to provide some very detailed, empathetic responses to common community concerns.
Panellists:
Dr. Shazeea Mohamed Ali - Geriatrician and General Physician
Dr. Mariam Tokhi - General Practitioner
Tasneem Chopra OAM - DHHS COVID-19 Response Unit
Nejla Muhammad - Vaccine Champion and SistaHub Rep
Yasmin Sungkar - Critical Care Nurse and SistaHub Rep
The webinar is now available on YouTube to view.

At SistaHub, we are proud to encompass a very diverse range of women’s voices. When we asked our team and supporters why they continue to advocate for getting double-dose vaccinated, we continue to get a range of responses.
For Sajda, the decision was crystal clear: she wanted to protect her elderly and ailing grandmother who she adores.
For Hana, it’s a matter for doing what needs to be done to return to a world that is familiar and safe for all.
For Dr. Amrooha, it’s about protecting her patients, her clinic staff and her loved ones as a frontline healthcare professional.
And for Nurshen, it’s an ethical perspective that takes collective responsibility into account: “it’s simply the right thing to do.”
What prompted you to get the jab, or to advocate for it? 🤩🙏🏽
SistaHub Whittlesea Vaccination Hub at Lalor Library ☑️
We just concluded our Whittlesea hub at Lalor Library - and it would be remiss of us if we didn’t begin by acknowledging the hospitality and support of City of Whittleseaand DPV Health!
The team and the wider community members were blown away by the warm and inviting space and the opportunities it offered for engagement and conversations that made the whole vaccination experience a positive and memorable one. We had a few members of the community come in who had ongoing anxieties regarding the vaccine, and our team was able to allay them in a safe and trust-inducing environment. Every person counts in creating a positive ripple effect.
On to the next hubs! 🌟
Fawkner Vaccination Hub ☑️
We had a very successful run today at the Fawkner Vaccination Hub. We will let the videos and photos speak for themselves, along with the testimonials we received from some of the attendees. We are so grateful to our incredible team and volunteers! 🤩🙏🏽
— “It was easy, convenient and comfortable for me”
— “I found it very convenient as there was no waiting time, especially with my children and also being pregnant. The environment was also very welcoming and comfortable.”
— “It was convenient & quick. It took a single minute to get vaccinated with no waiting time, and the staff members were very cooperative”.
— “The location was well-known to locals, easily accessible and quick to walk to. Made it a great option for those of us who don’t drive.”
At SistaHub, we wanted to ask the team about their primary motivations for getting vaccinated, acknowledging that they may vary from person to person.
Whether we get vaccinated to protect our vulnerable and immunocompromised family members, or those who cannot get vaccinated at the moment and who are regularly exposed to a range of environments, or to protect our vulnerable patients, their families and our colleagues, the reasons are wide-ranging and myriad.
We all have a distinct role to play in protecting our loved ones and the wider community in this pandemic.
🌟Mythbusters🌟
Here’s a tongue-in-cheek video by SistaHub to address some common myths we’ve seen floating around. We know we’ve only scratched the surface with these, so if you have any questions please do access the VaxChat option where you can chat with a medical professional to access accurate and updated information. 🤩🙏🏽

SistaHub Hume Vaccination Hub ☑️
Our hubs provide a safe and comfortable space where we are able to have an unhurried chat, allay concerns and provide a socially-distanced hug if needed!
We are so grateful to the families that visited us today and the incredible team of nurses who worked with us.
Incredible things can happen if we work together towards common goals.
✔️
At SistaHub, we wanted to ask the team about their primary motivations for getting vaccinated, acknowledging that they may vary from person to person.
Whether we get vaccinated to protect our little ones who cannot get vaccinated at the moment and who are regularly exposed to a range of environments as in Susan’s case, or to protect our vulnerable patients, their families and our colleagues as in Yasmin’s case, the reasons are wide-ranging and myriad.
At SistaHub, we fully acknowledge the impact that the pandemic has had on our community’s mental health. Melbourne is about to come out of the longest lockdown in the world - and we understand social anxiety, or “re-entry syndrome” may be at an all time high.
As our vaccination hubs launch and we inch closer to the “80% double-dosed statistic”, we want to encourage community members to prioritise their mental wellbeing as well.

We were featured on ABC Australia ‘s breakfast show this morning.
Hana Assafiri addressed an important question: “Why has the Muslim community lagged behind the national average in vaccine uptake?”
Hana responded by providing detailed context and reminding viewers about the havoc wreaked by Islamophobia, systemic discrimination, marginalisation and media coverage.
Watch the video clip to hear what Hana had to say.
We are proud of have Hana Assafiri in SistaHub. She is a true asset for and a champion of the Victorian Muslim community.
