The Monash Women Circle held an information session about Healthy Hearts with Multicultural Centre for Women's Health.
We learned that Poor diet is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease in Australia. What you eat and drink impacts several heart disease risk factors, including: Blood pressure, Cholesterol, Weight and Diabetes risk.
💕Healthy eating can help protect your heart and prevent you from developing heart disease.
💕Healthy eating is not about “good” and “bad” foods or restrictive diets. It’s about making small changes that you can continue long term.
💕How much you eat is also important.

TWO NEW EXHIBITIONS OPENING NEXT WEEK!
First up:
With the support of Multicultural Women Victoria, visual artists Leila Ashtiani (Iran), Sofie Dieu (France), Humaira Fayazi (Afghanistan), Abouk Giir (Sudan) and Rahila Zeeshan (Pakistan) present Our Plants, Our Heritage.
Through textile art, graphic design and photography, the women explore their birth land flora, how it is used in medicine, in ceremonies and in cooking. The artists looked at their plants' intangible qualities such as their sacredness and the emotional affinities their families have with them.
Exhibition opens Thursday 12 September to Friday 4 October 2024
Opening Launch Thursday 12 September 5.30-7.30PM
Today is the first day of . We hosted a interesting informative session with cohealth for our Wyndham’s Women Circle, where we learned all about the Breast, Bowel, and Cervical Cancer screening tests.
We learned now, women aged between 25-74yrs who are due or overdue for routine cervical screening, have the option to choose between a self-collected vaginal sample or a sample collected from the cervix by a healthcare practitioner, both of which can be arranged through their healthcare provider.
We are proud to support Women's Health Week 2024 and to help raise awareness about important health issues affecting women.

💛 NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
❤️ National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
🖤 NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.
Now more than ever, the work continues. In treaty making, in truth-telling, in understanding our history, in education, and in tackling racism. We need connection. We need respect. We need action. And we need change.
* Now more than ever, we need reconciliation.*
As we kick off Volunteer Week, we just want to say a big thank you to our amazing volunteers!
As we look back on the past year, we are so grateful for each and every one of you. This year’s theme, "Something for Everyone," truly reflects the unique contributions each of you bring. Your dedication, compassion, and selflessness have made a profound impact on our community.
10 May is an opportunity to start the conversation. Ask. Listen. Believe.
If you’re worried about someone you know who might be experiencing abuse, it can be hard to know what to do. But just by asking, listening and believing, you can have an enormous impact on someone’s journey to safety.

21 March is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
Learn, Speak up, Act! is a global call for concrete action against racism, discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. The challenges posed by these problems are not new, neither are their solutions. What is needed is action – by governments, institutions, groups and individuals – all of us.
#FightRacism Raising awareness and gaining support for global action on racism, discrimination, xenophobia and other intolerances.
MWV extends its warmest wishes for a blessed Ramadan to all members of our community who are observing this holy month.
💕 To all the sisters out there, let's never forget those who through inspiration, wisdom and drive gave us the voice we have today! There is still a lot to do and battles to conquer. And it is up to us to support each other with no judgement, prejudice and full acceptance of our diversity.
This way all women can continue our aims of equality and inspire others by example so we can create a future generation of women that can inspire and continue to give others a voice. 💕
MWV wishes you all a Happy Lunar New Year.
