We had seven members participate on the 3rd August at our Lilydale Bunnings Demonstration.
It was wonderful to see Michelle, Franc, Chase, Cooper, Chev & Theo share their love of Judo with the community.
We were the first community group to demonstrate instore. A big thanks to our parents for talking to the spectators in Bunnings.a

A big thank you to Jason at Lilydale who made the matching frame for Rodney, by hand. Each week we will remember Rodney by showing our respect by bowing to him at the start and end of each session. He will not be forgotten.
Earlier this month we had 3 members represent us at the Judo Australia Nationals in the Gold Coast. A big congratulations to Chase & Chev for winning Bronze in the Jnr Nage no Kata, Chev for winning Bronze in U11s, and Lisa for winning Silver in the Veterans.
National Kata Championships gets underway with a minutes silence for long time kata veteran, Rodney Cox.

It is with a heavy heart that I need to share the news that Rodney passed away. Rodney started off as my coach 54 years ago and has worked alongside me at Hawthorn for most of that time. Over the last ten years he has been travelling out to Lilydale to help me coach there as well. I will really miss him.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR KATA
You and your partner must enter the same kata, as Uke or Tori.
All kata competitors must also click this LINK to the entry form ( https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfSvesyyzb7S_hC2Fcu-a5Zg9YNMlny2ETv7JlpsqU_mPl1Lg/viewform ) and complete the form.
You may enter the same kata twice, only if in a different role and with a different partner. Cadets may enter Senior or Junior categories, but not both.
INFORMATION
Competitors must wear a WHITE JUDOGI. Kata will be run in parallel with Shiai.
The competition will run under the Judo Victoria Kata Sporting Code (2024) and based on the IJF Kata Competition, Criteria for the Evaluation (Jan 2024). In addition to the five standard competition Kata (Nage-no-Kata, Katame-no-Kata, Kime-no-Kata, Ju-no-Kata, and KdK-Goshin-Jutsu), junior and senior boys and girls may compete in Junior Nage-no-Kata (first three sets), and Junior Katame-no-Kata (first set, five techniques).
