Today a call for a blue tongue lizard in Sunbury in the bonnet in a car, was a quick easy rescued, no injuries released into near by park land.
Long billed corella in Sunbury hit by car, as usual the driver didn’t stop but fortunately for the bird a car behind stopped and called for help. Bird is currently at the vet given pain relief and on oxygen to stabilise. Hoping s/he will be ok to come into care tomorrow.
Not long after the corella rescue recieved a message for another bird hit by car in Williamstown again driver didn’t stop but someone else did. Thanks to Katherine who stopped and picked the magpie lark and taken straight to the emergency vet this one too has been given pain relief and oxygen to stabilise. Hopefully s/he will pull through the night and come into care tomorrow.
Please if you hit an animal do the right thing and stop they may be still alive laying there to suffer. And If it’s a marsupial there may be a Joey needing to be rescued.

Yesterday we attended to a magpie who has been entangled in twine stuck to a tree branch approx 20 metres high in Diggers rest. Thank goodness Gary (member of public) spotted her while feeding his horses and called for assistance.
Which was very tricky as we had the thunderstorm yesterday and had no choice but to wait for it to pass for safety reasons. On arrival we had seen what we was working with which wasn’t easy at all. Tried SES, CFA and MFB but all understandably busy. As it was getting dark we and the bird was able to perch its self upright for the night we had to wait till morning to try again for some help.
Jason contacted the tree amigos who said yes straight away and was on scene within 20 minutes.
So happy to say the magpie is free and remarkably not injured which we feared when she was desperately trying to get free.
She’s resting in care from her ordeal and she’s expected to make a full recovery and be able to go back home soon. 💕
Thank you so much to the Tree Amigos for coming to help we are so greatful and really appreciate your assistance today. Couldn’t have done it without you.

Reminder
Snake Season REMINDER
Snakes are out and about!
It's super important to know the signs your pet may show if they have been attacked and bitten by a snake. Seeking veterinary help ASAP when you notice the signs is of utmost importance! Refer to our list of signs & symptoms...
🐍Weakness or collapse
🐍Wobbly legs – generally starting with hind legs (cats often do a strange looking backwards shuffle)
🐍Vomiting
🐍Salivating (drooling)
🐍Dilated pupils (black dot in the eye is large)
🐍Twitching or shaking
🐍Difficulty blinking
🐍Loss of bladder/bowel control
🐍Blood in urine
Please note that the bite site is often NOT apparent and signs can take up to 2 hours to develop (cats can take even longer to show signs as they are slightly more resistant to snake venom).
It is critical for a pet showing any or a number of these signs to be getting veterinary assessment and treatment ASAP!
Please call us on 9744 3611 and bring your pet to us immediately if you're concerned that your pet may have been bitten by a snake!
