To understand the role of exercise and physiotherapy in bone health, it is essential to understand the anatomy of bones. Bones are composed of living tissues that continuously undergo a process called remodeling – a process which involves the removal of old or damaged bone tissue (resorption) and the formation of new bone tissue (ossification).
Primary school is a crucial time for Aussie kids to build strong bones for life! Make sure their daily routine includes these three key steps to maintain good bone health:
Consume - Milk, cheese, and yoghurt for calcium.
Exercise - Do weight-bearing exercise.
Vitamin D - Get safe sunshine for Vitamin D.
Let's take action to ensure our kids grow up with healthy, strong bones!
‼️Closing Early 21 Aug 24‼️

Thank you for your understanding.
Regular exercise, particularly weight-bearing and resistance activities, exerts beneficial effects on bone health. Here’s how exercise influences bone structure:
Increasing Bone Density: Stimulates osteoblast activity for stronger bones.
Promoting Bone Remodelling: Triggers old bone breakdown and new bone formation.
Enhancing Muscle-Bone Interaction: Strong muscles promote bone adaptation.
Supporting Joints: Improves stability and mobility, reducing injury risk.
Osteoporosis often goes undiagnosed until a fracture occurs. Routine checks can reveal osteopenia, indicating decreased bone density and a potential path to osteoporosis. Take charge of your bone health now!
Physiotherapy complements exercise by focusing on specific techniques to optimise bone health and function. Here’s how physiotherapy impacts bone structure:
Muscle Strengthening: Targeted exercises support bones and reduce fracture risk.
Balance & Coordination: Improves fall prevention, crucial for older adults.
Pain Management: Alleviates pain, enhancing mobility and quality of life.
Joint Mobility: Boosts flexibility, preventing stiffness and injuries.
Exercise and physiotherapy are key to maintaining strong bones. Contact us for more personalised guidance and support on your journey to optimal bone health. -

Our valued longtime client and friend Sue, is often seen walking her Bernese Mountain dog Esme outside our practice and sometimes drops in for a visit, as Esme is a therapy dog. Because let's face it, there's no better therapy than a beautifully natured dog.
Today Sue introduced us to her newest family member Hazel. And we must say, for a 10 week old pup, Hazel was extremely well behaved....and fluffy!!!

Falls can lead to serious injuries, especially for older adults. Here are some expert tips from physiotherapists to help keep you safe and steady on your feet:
1. Stay Active: Regular exercise improves strength, balance, and coordination. Try activities like walking, swimming, or Tai Chi.
2. Strength Training: Focus on strengthening your legs and core muscles. Simple exercises like squats, leg lifts, and seated marches can be very effective.
3. Balance Exercises: Practice balance exercises daily. Stand on one foot, heel-to-toe walk, or use a balance board to improve stability.
4. Proper Footwear: Wear well-fitted, non-slip shoes both indoors and outdoors. Avoid walking in socks or slippers that can increase the risk of slipping.
5. Know Your Limits: Don't rush or take risks that could lead to a fall. Move at a comfortable pace and ask for help when needed.
Remember, preventing falls is a proactive process. Stay safe and take these steps to maintain your independence and quality of life! 💪
