On Saturday 07/09, our Concert Band, Stage Band, and students in Year 11 Music and Year 12 Music, performed a set on the main stage at CronullaFest 2024. Cronulla High School were one of only two schools in the Sutherland Shire to perform.
Congratulations to all students involved for their hard work, innate musicality, and professionalism on the day. We particularly commend our Year 11 and Year 12 students, who made time to rehearse in the midst of their Preliminary and Trial HSC examinations.
This is a reminder that applications for TEDx Cronulla High School Youth will close this Friday 13/09. If you need any further information, or would like an extension, please refer to our eDiary posts, our public event page (link below), or ask to see Mr McCorquodale in the CAPA staffroom.
We have already received many quality applications. Giving a TED Talk is an incredible achievement on a CV, but more importantly, it is a powerful platform for an issue or topic that genuinely matters. We encourage all interested students from Year 7 to Year 12 to submit their ideas for consideration.
The date of TEDx Cronulla High School Youth will be Friday 13 December 2024, near the end of Term 4. We will be utilising the Hall extension and new precinct around L Block to create something quite unique and unlike any event that has ever been staged at Cronulla High School.

UNIVERSITY SHIELD!
What a ride it has been!
Unfortunately our campaign for 2024 came to an end on Tuesday afternoon at Bass High School.
The boys started the game well, very high energy, high completions and plenty of grit in defense against a much bigger outfit. Not once did any of the boys take a backward step. We conceded two tries early on but were yet to get our fair share of possession. Once that evened up we started to run their bigger forwards around and made the most of the limited opportunities that presented. We scored right on half time through a sharp short side play for Bodhi to crash over to go in at half time 14-4 down.
The boys were optimistic at half time and felt like the hardest part of the game was past them and the game was there for the taking. We got the ball back off the opening kickoff of the second half but unfortunately dropped the ball on the second tackle. Bass went on to score 3 tries in the next 15 minutes without us touching the ball for almost that entire period of time.
At that point the steam had been taken out of the boys from doing so much defense. However, they never gave up and fought right until the final siren. Final score 34-4.
As a school we are so proud of the boys and how they have conducted themselves throughout the tournament. No doubt a highlight for the boys being our flight up to Ballina, hopefully an experience they can remember for the rest of their lives. But for the boys to front up against a school that plays in the elite sport school schools rugby league competition and hold their own was nothing short of exceptional and they should all hold their heads high.
To the departing year 12 boys, thank you for your many years of service to Rugby League at Cronulla High School. We hope you have enjoyed it and we are grateful for the legacy you have left behind from being in our most successful team in the University Shield in Cronulla High Schools history. Top 4 in the state, not a bad effort!
This morning, our Year 10 Commerce classes put their business skills to the test by completing their Market Day stall pitches in a Shark Tank format in front of their classmates and our shark: Mr Ibrahim.
Each group developed their ideas, promoted their businesses, and even made samples to entice our shark—and the panel of judges—with their amazing products!
All groups did a fantastic job. However, we had three specific groups walk away with prizes to help them finance their stalls.
Congratulations to our hardworking prize winners! We cannot wait to see you all on Friday 20 September at Lunch for our Year 10 Commerce Market Day in the Quad.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you are keen to help support our HSC student through their exams please contact Jo Allouche ASAP.
