Congratulations to the two groups of students who presented their Science projects to Mr Ed Husic MP on Friday to conclude Science Week. The students presented how their potato plastic and sustainable house initiative could be beneficial for the residents of Blacktown.
Principal Assemblies - We have to congratulate all our students in Years 7-10 who received their first semester reports earlier this term. NAPLAN results have also been sent home.
Academic success matters
9X Visual Arts elective students visited the Art Gallery of New South Wales as part of their course work. In exploring the new and old gallery spaces, the class was able to see the Archibald (including the Young Archie Prize), Wynne and Sulman Prizes as well as the Alphonse Mucha Art Nouveau exhibition. It was a wonderful day and our students are to be commended for their outstanding conduct.
Well done to our Under 14s Girls Rugby League team who competed in the Sydney Region Rugby League Competition. They played very well against formidable opposition, displaying the PERSIST values throughout.
Rooty Hill HS participated in the 2024 Blacktown City Council Youth Forum representing what our students need in their community
Congratulations to the Year 11 Drama class for their outstanding performance at The Riff Youth Theatre Festival. Their original play ‘It started with a coffee shop, ended with a burn,’ was a crowd favourite!

Congratulations to the Under 13s and Under 15s Boys Rugby League teams who represented the school in the Panther Trophy. Both teams performed well with the Under 13s unlucky to miss out on a spot in the final.
Term 3 Information
All students return to school on Tuesday 23 July 2024. This will be Week 1A. There will be a whole school assembly at 8:40am. Years 11 and 12 - no Period 0 on Tuesday.
Please note that staff are completing mandatory training off site on Monday 22 July and the school will be CLOSED.
The Uniform Shop will return to normal school term operating hours on Tuesday 23 July.
An email was sent home to all families at the end of last term with more detailed information.
On Tuesday, the Year 11 Drama class travelled to Sydney Theatre Company to watch their latest production of ‘Stolen.’ The students loved seeing the play they had read come to life on stage with a dynamic set and new ending.
Sydney West Katrina Fanning Cup Champions! Congratulations to our students who were undefeated all day, not one point was scored against them.
Last week, students in Years 7 and Year 8 competed in the Wanderer’s Cup. They played brilliantly and showed great sportsmanship.
Well done the 3 year 12 Chemistry students who travelled to UTS today to compete in the titration competition. The team showed great practical and mathematical skills to complete the required calculations.

Last Friday, 23 Years 7 and 8 students engaged in a drawing and painting workshop aimed at extending their understanding and application of value in their practice. Their completed works, along with many more, will be on display at our M.A.D (Music, Art, Drama) showcase on Wednesday 29 May, 5-7pm in the school hall!

Last week, a group of Year 8 students visited the Origin Energy office in Barangaroo to be a part of planning this years Origin Explorers day.
The students worked alongside Origin Energy engineers, analysts and experts and they noted how creative and confident the students were.

The RHHS Athletics Carnival will be held on Tuesday 30 April which is the first day of Term 2 for all students (Week 1A). This event is a whole school, compulsory event that all students are expected to attend. There will be no supervision at school for students on the day.
Key info:
- Venue: Blacktown International Sports Park Athletic Centre, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill.
- Start time: Students are expected to be at the venue by 9:00am for roll marking.
- Finish time: The carnival will conclude and students will be dismissed at 2:00pm.
- Cost (per student): $5 Entry Fee to be collected on the day in cash upon entry to the venue. There will be an additional $5 fee for any students catching the bus to or from the venue. No card payments will be accepted.
- What to wear: Students wishing to compete should wear appropriate clothing for athletic events that do not restrict movement for events such as throwing, running or jumping. Students that DO NOT wish to compete can wear appropriate m***i or appropriate clothing that is in line with this year’s THEME which is Movie/cartoon/game characters.
- What to bring: Students are allowed to wear spikes or any appropriate equipment for athletics (including any personal protective items). All students are suggested to bring their own food and drinks. There will be a canteen operating on the day. No students will be allowed to order food through food delivery services, or to leave to get food from nearby food outlets. Any deliveries will be confiscated by staff members on duty at the gate.
Transport details:
- Transport arrangements: Students can either make their own way to and from the venue or catch a bus from school to and from the venue. The bus will cost $5 per student (please see cost information above)
- Time of departure: Students that are catching a bus are required to be on school grounds and on the grandstand by 8:30am.
- Time of return: Students that are catching a bus will begin to depart at 2:00pm and will return to the school by 3:00pm.

Congratulations to Christopher, Chrystan, Brayden, Mason and Lasi who represented RHHS in the Opens Sydney West Volleyball teams. The Opens Girls Sydney West team finished third overall and the Opens Boys Sydney West team finished in 4th place. Special congratulations to Lasi for being awarded MVP of the Girls Sydney West team and for being selected into the CHS NSW Volleyball team.

Year 9 elective Visual Arts students recently completed a number of object studies which are currently on display in the Office.
