Marrickville High School has been working closely with Addi Road Community Organisation and the Food Pantry to be able to provide students with a free breakfast of toast, cereals and fruit before school on Mondays.
This will commence weekly from Monday 4 March and the aim is to expand to multiple days per week from term 2. We will be serving food from 8am until 8:35 to allow staff and students to get to roll call on time and it is open to any student across the whole school. It would be so wonderful to have as many people as possible joining us to create a really positive, exciting environment.
For our first breakfast club, we will have Craig Foster, retired Australian soccer player and human rights activist, coming in to meet students and staff, and help serve food.
We are really excited to be able to offer this to our students as we know that going to class hungry can have a really negative impact on a young person's learning.
