Congratulations to Maureen W. of Year 12 on her incredible success in the 2024 Australian Badminton Open! Maureen recently competed in a Mixed Doubles Qualification round and WON! With the victory, she has secured a place in the main draw for the Mixed Doubles round. This is a tremendous moment in her badminton career. Last month, our Year 8 Language students competed in the Education Perfect Global Languages Championship. BGHS saw outstanding success, with our Latin class placing 3rd both globally and within Australia, as well as 2nd in NSW. Our German class also saw great success, placing 7th place in NSW. In the categories for cohorts of 101-250 students, our Latin students placed 1st in all levels and our German class came in 5th globally, 4th in Australia and 1st in NSW. Our students’ efforts across all classes have seen 10 credit awards, 7 bronze awards, 1 silver award and 1 gold award. Two of our Latin students, Sahaana and Niya, achieved the Elite award, which is the highest honour possible!

A massive congratulations to Jennifer M. (Year 12), who has been selected and announced in the Basketball New Zealand U17 Women’s National Team that will compete at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup basketball tournament in Mexico in July!
This incredible news follows Jennifer’s recent Gold win at the NSW U18 Metro Girls 2024 competition and return from a USA tour where she proudly represented the NZ U17 Women’s team at the 'Elite Is Earned' Spring Invitational in Sacramento, California.

Congratulations to Tianna of Year 8 for her incredible accomplishments in badminton. Playing out of her local Seven Hills club, Tianna recently participated in a NSW state selection camp in both the U/15 and U/17 age divisions. Tianna was dominant in both competitions, winning the silver medal in the singles tournament and the gold medal in doubles. We wish Tianna all the best as she continues to shine on the badminton court. 🏸

Yesterday morning we held our ANZAC Day ceremony. All of us at BGHS remember and give thanks to those who have served and sacrificed to protect our freedoms and keep us safe. Lest we forget.

A huge congratulations to Aseka (Year 12 Class of 2023) for her outstanding achievements in Textiles and Design. Aseka placed 3rd in the state in the HSC course and her Major Textiles Project was selected for the prestigious TexStyle showcase and displayed at Studio 76 in Concord. Her Major Project was also one of a select few to be showcased and worn on stage at the Schools Spectacular.
Congratulations again to Aseka for her incredible achievements and success in Textiles and Design; she is a gifted artist and the outstanding marks and public recognition she has received are a testament to her impressive talent, dedication and determination.
