Blacktown Youth College
Blacktown Youth College offers a holistic approach to your child's secondary education
To boost education opportunities and narrow the digital divide, the Australian Government has invested $8.8 million to provide up to 30,000 qualifying families and carers with school age children and do not have an active NBN connection at home, with a free National Broadband Network (NBN) service until 31 December 2025. To check if you qualify follow these simple steps.
- Contact the National Referral Centre, on 1800 954 610 (Mon–Fri, 10am–6pm AEDT), www.anglicarevic.org.au/student-internet. Callback, webchat and interpreting services also available.
- The National Referral Centre team will check your residential address and ask some basic questions to determine if you qualify for the School Student Broadband Initiative.
If you qualify, you will be issued a voucher which can be redeemed at any of the participating internet providers. The National Referral Centre will also be available to assist with contacting your chosen internet provider or providing follow-up support.
To be eligible, a family must:
• Have a school age student at home (full or part time), enrolled in an Australian school up to year 12 including
• Not have an active NBN network internet service at your current residential address now or in the past 14 days (having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility).
• Live in a premise that can access the NBN network through a standard connection.

We wish all the dad's, granddad's, uncle's, brother's and all of the people who support our students a very special day.
This week we announced the winners of our Cafe competition. Congratulations to Matthew who came up with the name "Cafe Youth College" and to Justice and Ky who designed the logo. We are all looking forward to the official opening of the Cafe!
Some of our students ae currently obsessed with ghosts and are adamant there are some in the school grounds. They have a special ghost finder app and have been very busy searching for them during breaks. It's all a bit spooky!
Don't forget that every minute counts! Your attendance on time each day is important to ensure you don't miss valuable social and learning time.
We had another surprise visit this week from Amy-Lee. She has been doing amazing things and we are so proud of her. Thanks for popping in Amy-Lee!
Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday 🙂

Did you know that even missing 1 day of school a fortnight, or half a day each week adds up to missing 4 weeks of school a year, or 1 year of school over your school life?
Missing 1 day a week will mean you miss 8 weeks of school a year, or 2 and a half years over your school life.
Attendance matters and every day and every minute counts! Let's get up, get moving and get to school on time each day!
Congratulations to Tiana and Brae on being our Sports Leaders of the Week. You both put in an amazing effort and demonstrated sportsmanship. Well one!
We also had Charlie pop in to say hello today. Charlie was a student at BYC who left to start a career as an air conditioning mechanic. It was so wonderful to catch up and hear about his success. So proud of you Charlie!
Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday 🙂

There is no doubt our students love sport and most activities that can be enjoyed as a group.
Whether it's joining in with lunch club playing UNO, showing off skills on the outdoor gym, or playing a friendly game of dodge ball. They always cheer each other on and celebrate together.
Our Sports Leaders of the Week go to Jaylah and Brae for their consistent effort and leadership. Congratulations to you both!
Enjoy the snaps from this week and have a great weekend. See you on Monday 🙂
Our Stage 4 students are studying the art of photography and have been taking lots of snaps of things around the school, themselves and their eyes! Check out some of the photos so far, and yes, it's only some as so far they have taken over 300!
We also received the professional photos taken at last week's Youth Forum held by Blacktown City Council. Tristen and Bianca look well suited to the council chambers.
Our Sports Leaders of the Week are Justice and Sam. Our students love sport and these 2 were exceptional this week with teamwork and attitude. Good on you both!
Have a great weekend and we'll see you on Monday 🙂

The National Indigenous Culinary Institute (NICI) was established in 2012 and are committed to finding and training the next generation of culinary leaders with their Indigenous chef program.
Bianca LW and Seth were able to attend a session with NICI at Kimberwalli this week where they learnt about native plants used in cooking, and were taught how to cook crocodile and kangaroo. They also learnt about hospitality career paths.
Later in the week, Tristen and Bianca C joined 80 students from 17 schools at the Blacktown City Council Youth Forum. BYC student focus was homelessness and the proposal put to council to help address this issue was excellent.
Presenting their speech to the Mayor, councillors, and peers was a daunting task, but they stepped up to the challenge and received a rousing applause.
We finish the week with our Sports Leaders of the Week, Zac and Tyrone. Both students demonstrated a commitment to ensuring equipment was set up, packed away, and a lot of fun was had in between. Well done!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 🙂
