๐๐ซถMarian's Faith in Action on show! ๐ซถ๐
Today's "Kicking Goals for Charity" event was a resounding success, thanks to the remarkable commitment and dedication shown by all participants and players. Notably, the Year 7 goalie Christian stood out with exceptional sportsmanship and perseverance, demonstrating a level of commitment that truly inspired everyone! The unwavering focus and positive attitude were a testament to their dedication to the cause. Equally commendable were the Year 11 leaders, whose efforts behind the scenes ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event. Their meticulous handling of logistics and proactive engagement with their peers were crucial in rallying support and maximising participation. Together, these contributions highlighted a profound sense of community spirit and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference through the event. Thank you to all staff and students involved! ๐๐

Last Friday, we held our Term 3 Pathways Breakfast with the theme โTrades and Traineeshipsโ. Once again we were very fortunate to have a number of former Marian students come and speak about their career and the pathways they took to get there.
We would like to thank Jo Garuccio (mechanic), Sean Sweeney (landscaping), Zac Sprowles (plumbing), Marguerite Farmer (Real Estate), Rylan McGrady (Carpentry), Bonita Maait (hairdressing/beauty) and Ms Tallon (cosmetic nurse) for sharing their stories with our students and parents. It was great to hear what fantastic career pathways these young people have chosen since leaving Marian. Thank you to all those students, parents and staff that attended.
It is with great pride that we congratulate Stephanie Vassallo on receiving the 2024 Bishop of Parramatta Award for Student Excellence. This award acknowledges the contribution of one Year 12 student from each Catholic secondary school towards their school and local community, as well as their religious and academic achievements throughout the year.
Stephanie, an academically gifted student of Marian Catholic College, exemplifies dedication and service as an active member of the St. Madeleine Sophie Barat Parish. With a fervent passion for engaging youth in the community, she served as a student Catechist, actively participates in liturgy, and represents her school as a PDSSSC dance representative. Stephanie's commitment extends to volunteering with the Vinnies Van, demonstrating her unwavering dedication to community welfare. Her multifaceted contributions embody compassion, leadership, and a profound commitment to nurturing both faith and community spirit among peers and beyond.

Weโre gearing up for an exciting event thatโs all about fun, teamwork, and making a difference! ๐ฏ Our House Team Penalty Shootouts are just around the corner (Thursday 12 September, Week 8), and we need our students to be part of the action!
If students would like to participate or be a spectator in this event, donations can be made through the QKR App. Further information has been communicated on Compass.
Letโs come together to make this event a huge success! Be a part of something special, show your house pride, and help us make a positive impact! ๐โค๏ธ๐๐
After completing their Trial HSC Exams, Year 12 had the chance to go to Luna Park to โRenew and Resetโ after this busy time. Mr Brillo, along with a number of staff, spent the day focused on self-care, spending time together and having fun! ๐คก๐๐
The next morning, Year 12 listened to Jay Stevens - the first paraplegic to climb to Everest Base Camp without a wheelchair! Jay spoke to Year 12 about the โMomentumโ they need for the next and final part of their school journey. Some of his key takeaways included: the importance of positive momentum, being resilient as you face the ups and downs of life, making the most of opportunities and it is never too late to start! ๐
Congratulations to our 7-8 Girls Netball team and their coach, Mrs. Attard, for winning the NSWCCC Minor Division at the NSWCCC Netball Gala Day last week! The team achieved this fantastic victory while remaining undefeated throughout the day!
On Friday, Marian once again joined thousands of schools and businesses in participating in Jersey Day, advocating for organ donation awareness. To show our support, we held the penultimate Blake Tickell Cup match, where staff faced off against students in a spirited game of Touch Football.
We encourage everyone to have the important conversation about organ donation with their family and friends. Thank you to everyone who showed their support for this vital cause. ๐
On Friday, Year 10 attended mass at St Madeleine Sophie Barat Parish to celebrate Father's Day and honor the fathers and father figures in the Marian community.
At our inaugural Father's Day Address, we welcomed Jay Stevens who provided an insight into his own life and the challenges that he has faced. Jay focussed on the theme of 'Building Resilience' in the face of adversity as he told his story of becoming the first paraplegic to walk to Everest Basecamp. Both students and family members were inspired to put into practice some of Jay's strategies in dealing with the challenges we face in life. ๐

Here's a look at what is happening in Weeks 7 & 8! Enjoy your week Marian!๐๐
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
God our Father, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old.
We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice.
We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow.
We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice.
We remember fathers, grandfathers and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love.
Amen

The students are also voluntarily fundraising for the Kids' Cancer Project to help support these cancer patients.

Jersey Day is next Friday 30 August. Jersey Day is about promoting awareness of The Organ and Tissue Authority and the DONATE LIFE network.
All students have permission to wear their favourite sporting jersey over their uniform on Friday 30 August. As it will be a Day 5, normal uniform expectations apply. Students may wear a jersey over their FULL WINTER UNIFORM.
Students attending the Father's Day Mass, are expected to wear their full winter uniform, including their blazer to Mass. Students may wear their jersey after Mass.
We hope as many students and members of the Marian community wear a jersey to their workplace or school on Friday 30 August, showing their support for Jersey Day and the DONATE LIFE network, and begin the conversation with their friends and families about Organ Donation.
