What a great award to recognise all the unsung hero’s in clubs

A spirited defeat on the road yesterday for a depleted Lions squad. Chineham started the stronger and took a well deserved lead through fly half Matt Lingham out wide, with the ref awarding a penalty try for a high tackle, despite Lingham dotting down.

From then on it was a tale of injuries, with full back Jack Soper, prop Spencer Taylor and wing Dave Clark having to leave the field and causing significant reshuffling. Lymington then asserted their dominance with a physical display, but the scoreline doesn’t reflect the fight and attitude put in by the Lions throughout 💪🏼

Next week sees a squad game versus Aldershot & Fleet before a return to league action against Southsea Nomads in a fortnight.

The Lions emerged victorious this afternoon against a physical Wi******er side.

A lack of discipline in the muddy conditions left the hosts up against it, but resolute defensive work saw them home in a nail biting finish! 💪🏼

The win leaves Chineham with 3 wins from 4 to start the season, sitting in 2nd place in the league behind Alton!

Next week the boys are on the road to face Lymington 🚗

In muddy conditions the score finished 13-10 in Fawley’s favour, with Grant Murdoch scoring the Lions only try Liam Hobbs kicking a conversion and penalty.

The Lions are back in action at home to Wi******er next Saturday🦁🦁

The 2s were also in action against Fawley, and lost another tight contest 15-5, with Harry Lockett scoring Chineham’s try. Great to see 2 sides out on the paddock for the first time in 5 years! 🦁

DERBY DAY W

What a performance from the boys! Backing up their big win against Gosport & Fareham with another 5 points in a physical local derby in Hook!

After trailing 14-0 early on, Chineham fought their way back into the match through a close range Tom Scoble try and a conversion and penalty from Reece Liggins leaving the boys 14-10 down at the break.

That scoreline quickly became 17-14 to Chineham after quick hands and strong running out wide allowed Jack Soper to snipe to score. Hook & Odiham hit straight back with a score of their own to see the lead change hands again, before strong tries from birthday boy Matt Lingham and full back Liggins saw Chineham close out the game!

Man of the match was awarded to centre Gareth Hubbard, who helped to run the show out wide and came so close to scoring from a chip & chase. Whilst Harry Lockett was awarded DOTD after taking out a member of his own team chasing a kick off 😂

The 1st XV are next in action in a fortnight as they take on Fawley RFC!

We have finally found a new home at Chineham RFC and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Cricket Club, May's Bounty.
