Herbalist Scotland
Business and wellness strategy for herbal medicine lovers Restore health and revive flagging spirits with a mini-consultation at Herbalist Scotland
I have two spaces available for you ambitious people who want to make big decisions but trip up on inner conflict, starting end of September. It's for you if you want to make cracking decisions, that are right for you, deep down inside, and carry them out with full confidence. Last cohort was sold out, so let me know now if this is you. Just DM me the word decisions! and I’ll send you the info on my special programme for you 💚
From one of my lovely programme clients: "Before, I used to wonder how people could make big decisions with such apparent confidence. I ended up accepting this as a reality (for them), but now I feel I can do this too."
It's the little things which are much more effective than big, flashy interventions or sudden 'life-changing' insights (and those are extremely few and far between). Small steps lead to very big changes, if they are the right steps.
Like one my lovely programme clients experienced:
"I’ve done a lot of other therapy over the years but never one as successful as this. It actually worked. For the first time ever I connected with my sense of self and learned how to move on with my life in a positive way at a slow pace that suited me".
It’s that time of year again where the weather turns, and for me that means discovering inner pizzaz again after the summer 😀.
I’m a trauma therapist and my speciality is helping people who struggle with confidence go from anxious and antsy to calm and confident, so they can find their purpose and achieve goals, no matter where they are coming from.
Now’s exactly the right time to start thinking about raising mood as we head towards the crisp and cold days 🍂 . If you’re thinking the same, I’ve got a little something coming in the next few days 😀
I love this 😄
We love this quote from David Hoffman’s book ‘Medical Herbalism’ because treating the whole person, using whole plants, is core to all we teach here at Betonica.
In herbal medicine, we treat the cause of dis-ease, not just the symptoms.
Here is how the National Institute of Medical Herbalists describe what herbal medicine is and how it works:
“Herbal medicine is medicine made from plants, either the whole plant or sometimes parts of it, for example leaves, flowers, roots or bark. It has been the main source of medicine used by people for thousands of years…
…Herbal medicine focuses on the patient and the cause of their illness rather than the symptoms that they have. The choice of herbs that a practitioner prescribes is based on detailed information given to the practitioner by the patient and the result of any clinical examination carried out during the consultation. This allows a bespoke, personalised prescription to be created.”
On our Professional Medical Herbalism Training Course, we teach these skills and more. When our students qualify, they are ready to go out into the world with the knowledge and confidence to start working with patients and herbs, finding just the right match to encourage healing.
Is this something that lights you up?
Check out our website (www.betonica.co.uk)) for information on how to apply to our Professional Training course, or to attend our training clinic as a patient and experience herbal medicine for yourself.
Here’s the freebie again on making decisions for those of you who have been asking for it 😄
For everyone on the Making Great Life Decisions programme, the group coaching is tonight at 19:30 😀
If you’ve found the posts about herbs which help with decision making, here’s a blog post on the six steps we need to make decisions which stick, are right for us, and which we can carry out without inner conflict, doubt or procrastination 💚
How to make decisions, at work or in your personal life Decision making can be hard and confusing. Follow the six steps needed to make decision-making easy, without procrastination, doubt, or self-sabotage.
One last herb to help with great decision making: Centella. Centella connects the different parts of our nervous system, helping us get the various parts of our brain into the same page. We need the conscious and unconscious modes of our brains to be in agreement to avoid inner conflict.
A third great herb to help us make good decisions: Rosemary. Rosemary helps us think clearly, and combined with sage and dandelion, which connect us to our sense of self, and keep us grounded and focused, provides the right rational balance to any decision making.
Another beautiful herb to help us make decisions: Taraxacum or dandelion. Taraxacum helps us connect with reality, and also strives to look up to the sun, so we stay both grounded and clear in our intentions, knowing where we want to go!
One of the best herbs to support us in making decisions: Salvia, or sage. Salvia helps us connect with who we are, our sense of self, so we can know what we want.
New blog post on how to make decisions easily and effectively, so they stick, and are right for you 😀
There's also a handy download there if you want to follow the steps one by one.

I think it’s my childhood spent in Germany that makes me crack up with these bizarre German magicians 😂
I’m doing a little ‘crowd research’ on how people make decisions, in personal life and in business. Any ideas or comments you want to pop in below would be really appreciated ❤️
If you are really good at making decisions, what are your top tips? Do you have a decision-making process you use?
If you don’t feel confident making decisions, what is missing (apart from a crystal ball)? Is there something you fear, or are you just not sure how to make decisions?
I’m asking so I can tailor my next freebie to exactly what people want and need 🥰
Coaching session is on tonight at 19:30, for everyone on the Making Great LIfe Decisions programme! Looking forward to seeing you there 💚

Wounded orangutan seen using plant as medicine
Wounded orangutan seen using plant as medicine It is the first time a creature in the wild has been seen using a medicinal plant to treat a wound.
Tickled me, given that we are tea merchants ourselves 😄
Research catches up with what we know instinctively. It’s instinctive because that’s how we evolved.
Will Your Next Prescription Be 20 Minutes of Nature a Day? The evidence is accumulating: Our health can improve by spending more time in green spaces. Part of that has to do with our perception of time.
People have been asking me where they can get hold of the programmes and the freebies. They are all here on this page 💚

There are three main drivers of overwhelm, when we feel as if we can't respond, don't know what to do, or that it's all just too much! Which one gets to you most?⚡️
Too much is possibly the main cause of overwhelm. Who can relate to this? I can feel a little dizzy with overwhelm, when I've scheduled too much to do 😵💫
Too intense is is another big driver of overwhelm! when things get too intense, we can be easily overwhelmed 😵💫 This is especially the case when things get emotional!
Too fast is the third major driver of overwhelm: things happening way too fast. It's very obvious in something like a car accident - bang! - but there are many far more everyday situations where things can just happen too fast. Think about change. change can happen too fast for us to be able to keep up. Hearing personal news (you can't do that slowly!). Or just normal tasks coming in and piling up one thing after the other, faster and faster...🥹
Overwhelm and what to do about it The three main causes of overwhelm, and how to decrease or eliminate the most common of them all.
Too much is one of the main causes of overwhelm. Who can relate to this? This is one of the main reasons I can feel a little dizzy with overwhelm, when I've scheduled too much to do 😵💫

Talking about overwhelm this week. Did you know that the three biggest drivers of overwhelm are too much, too intense, and too fast?
When there’s just too much on our plate, or it’s too difficult or emotionally too intense, or it just happens too fast for us to be able to respond, we might be overwhelmed. Which of these, or which combination, affects you most?
Well, this is news!! NOT. Not to women, anyway. But good on you, WHO, for catching on.
1 in 3 Women Have Lasting Health Problems After Giving Birth More than 1 in 3 women worldwide (at least 40 million women) annually experience lasting health problems in the months or years following childbirth.
Hello lovely herby people! I've been talking a lot on the Calm, Confident Brain group about sense of self, and connecting with who you are deep down inside, so you can discover your purpose, make decisions, and carry them out with full confidence.
There's a new mini-programme coming out in the next couple of weeks to help you discover and strengthen your sense of self, with a Black Friday (how convenient!) special introductory price, and an extra live online class to go with one of the modules.
Let me know if you want more info - you can drop me a comment below or DM me and I'll send you a link ☺️
