This ancient healing practise is based on the idea that energy moves through our body along predictable lines or pathways similar to nadis in Ayurvedic principle or ‘meridians’ in Traditional Chinese Medicine - the application is a combination of acupressure using the palms, thumbs & sometimes the forearms or the elbows, knees and feet for muscle compression or joint mobilisation. We’re very excited to share that we finally have a day to do an individual yoga self-practice in the morning, starting in July every Thursday. The hall is open from 6:30AM and can start your practice as early when you can and end the practice at your own time by 8:30AM.

Yoga teachers and those developing the sequence in the Ashtanga primary series are very welcome to practice in a shared space in an assisted self-practice method. This is not a guided yoga class. The teachers around to supervise the self-practice will assists students when needed.

My approach in my class is to build up a yoga practice based on a highly structured system in the primary series that is open to modifications and variations to any asanas that prove difficult as we move through the series. The most important part of the practice is self-acceptance of whatever body or circumstance you are in as a healing tool to promote good health and longevity.

Our local summer solstice ritual in this morning 4:30M - big thanks to all who came out early - taking time in acknowledging and aligning ourselves with nature.
The rising and setting of the sun appear to stop and reverse direction creating the longest day of sunlight hours. It is a catalyst for change and transformation and allowing ourselves to illuminate; it is associated with willpower, courage, and strength. The light can represent our spark of imagination, the burning of passion and desire and inspire our actions. Taking time to reflect upon the first half of your year and contemplate our intentions for the rest of the year - reminding us to re-sharpen our focus on nurturing our intentions and developing those aspects of our lives that need attention.
Before this auspicious day ends I hope you celebrated in some ways or sat quietly taking a moment to breathe and fuel your intentions with peace, love & inner light 🌞 Namaste 🙏🏼
or in Ashtanga Yoga is a revolved triangle pose based on the triangle postures, which is great for either beginner to strengthen the muscles around the femur and the lower back, and for the more advanced yogis to maintain good balance and keep the vertebrae healthy and strong.

The most important thing to understand about is that it is not that we are there for the yoga but in hindsight the method is there for us. There is an aphorism in modifying individual asana practice in this modern world and it is highly regarded from different Ashtanga masters in all corners of the earth including Matt himself. We are very lucky to have a spacious place of practice in this style of yoga in and open to all to try.

Last week we attempted headstand. There are many yoga postures which take years to learn, as they require a great level of flexibility or body strength, it’s not the case with . It is in fact a balancing posture, where requires only concentration and balance just like you do in Tadasana or samasthithihi which anyone can learn with little practice and regulating proper breathing. It is achievable and will become easy, once you have already break that fear of falling.
