✨Sign-ups are now live for stalls at the 2024 Activities Fair!✨

The 2024 fair will be on Tuesday 24th September from 11am-4pm at the Octagon Centre and the Students' Union.

The sign-up form is linked in my bio and the deadline for submissions is 10am on Friday 23rd August!

Tuesday night was a brilliant celebration of all of our societies, committees and student leaders and we hope you really enjoyed the evening! 💜

The Activities Awards are fast approaching and we’d love to have some groups performing both at the pre-celebration and during the awards ceremony!

✨Tickets for the Activities Awards on the 7th May are on sale now!✨

There is also the option for societies to use their B account money to purchase Tickets in Advance (TIAs) on behalf of their members. Tickets for the awards are non-refundable so make sure you're careful when requesting TIAs to only request the number of tickets for the number of members attending in your Society. Upon purchasing TIAs, you will need to collect them from the Entertainments Office at the Students Union.

Collaborative Initiative of the Year - celebrates 2 or more groups coming together to organise something amazing

In-Person Event of the Year - this award is for an incredible event that was organised by a society or committee which was a great success

Publicity and Engagement of the Year - celebrates a group that has shaken up their publicity to reach new audiences and benefit their members

Outstanding Charitable Contribution - highlights a successful fundraising event organised by a society or committee with money going to a good cause

Outstanding Achievement of the Year - an event that has truly excelled and impacted the student community

ACTIVITIES AWARDS SHORTLIST 5/6 - Committee Awards

Flourishing Committee of the Year - awarded to the committee that has found their identity and come into their own the most throughout this last year!

Liberation Network of the Year - this award celebrates the dedication of a particular representative network that has gone above and beyond to improve the support available to their respective students and put on events so that they feel welcomed and wanted.

Most Innovative Committee of the Year - awarded to the committee which has shown the most innovation in their functioning by bringing in new ideas, showing creativity and ‘out of the box thinking’.

SU Committee of the Year - awarded to the committee which has excelled in its activity whislt making a significant impact on the SU and student community

Fresher of the Year - this award is for a student who has made an amazing impact within their society as a new member!

New Committee Member of the Year - this award is for someone who has had their first year on committee this academic year (23/24) and has done an incredible job supporting their group!

Outstanding Individual Achievement of the Year - this awards celebrates an achievement made by a committee member that deserves extra praise by improving their group, performing impressively in an initiative or for excelling in their role

Long-Term Contribution to a Society - this award is for a final year student who has hugely contributed to their society/committee during their time at university

ACTIVITIES AWARDS SHORTLIST 1/5 - Category Society Awards!

These awards highlight how well a society in each category has organised a variety of thought out and well attended events with members of the committee working together effectively and operating inclusively. They’ve also contributed to wider SU activity and have actively engaged with the student and local community.

On Wednesday 13th March we’re taking over Western Bank library’s silent space to bring you a performance event like no other!

With back to back performances from 14 bands within the student community, we’ll be reimagining education and lobbying for arts funding! 🎶

This event is from 3pm and it’s a drop-in so you can come and go as you please but you can grab your free ticket at the link in my bio!

We can’t wait to see you there! 💜

AGM Registration is open!!

Every year, all groups need to hold an AGM, to elect a new committee who can keep your society running! In order to hold your AGM it needs to be registered with us. Once you know when your group plans to hold theirs please let us know using the form, linked in my Bio.

AGM fortnight will be split into two weeks, one either side of the Easter Break.

Week 1: 15/03/24 - 22/03/24
Week 2: 15/02/24 - 21/03/24

They will be more info about how to host the perfect AGM in the coming weeks, but if you've got any questions before then just drop me a message or an email!

😍WE HAVE NEW BRANDING! 😍

Societies Showcase Week is back and will be hitting the SU building from Monday 19th Feb - Friday 23rd Feb! 🎉

This is your chance to show students (& the Uni) how amazing your group is by doing a performance, demonstration, workshop, an interactive stall or a Give or a Go (GIAG)!! We want this week to takeover the SU and be a huge celebration of all of you, your talents and the massive range of interests and opportunities that students can get involved in (including sports as we’ve invited clubs for the first time this year too) 😊

As it’s 2 weeks after refreshers we’re really keen to push the message that it’s not too late to get involved but we need your help to do this!!

Want to start a new activity this year? Come along to our Get Involved Fair on the 6th of February from 10:30am - 3:30pm in the Octagon and SU! It's a great opportunity to meet lots of our student run societies and sports clubs as well as lots of volunteering opportunities! 💜

Clubs and societies don't forget to apply for a stall at the fair by 5pm this Friday (Jan.19th) for your opportunity to engage with lots of students and hopefully gain new members! 😊

Just wanted to share some updates now that we've reached the end of Semester 1 💜

🪩 You don't have to be a creative or performance society to take part and showcase your group's activities! There will be space available to hold workshops and interactive stalls in the Activities and Sports Zone, as well as performances in the Plaza.

🚨 The deadline to sign up is Friday 10th February at 5pm!
