UpReach is a social mobility charity aiming to level the playing field when it comes to getting top graduate roles after university. They work with high achieving students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds to help give them the tools to access these opportunities through various means such as CV reviews, application support and insight into top careers through our partnership with a variety of top graduate employers in the UK. As a charity, of course this is absolutely free to those they support!
They have just established a new partnership with Jacobs to create an Engineering Springboard. This Springboard is designed for 60 students with a career interest in civil and mechanical engineering and will last for two years. On the Springboard, students will have access to exclusive work experience opportunities with Jacobs, engineering insight events (such as networking, panel discussions, applications tips), be assigned a Programme Coordinator through upReach who will be able to carry out CV reviews and mock interviews as well as have access to mentors from top engineering companies. Eligible students will have achieved three Bs or higher at A-level, have a household income of below £42,000, and have solely attended a UK state school (or from aged 14 if they lived abroad before then).
The link for their sign up form is below:

Mae C. Jemison is an American engineer, doctor, and NASA astronaut.
After completing her degrees in chemical engineering, African studies, and African American studies from Stanford University, Jemison decided to obtain an additional medical degree from Cornell University.
She used these degrees to work as a medical practitioner in Sierra Leone and Liberia from 1983 - 1985 before returning home to apply for the NASA astronaut training programme. On 12th September 1992, She became the first black woman to go to space, where she served a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Most of us can only hope to become as driven and accomplished as Mae C. Jemison but we can celebrate her achievements and hold her up as an inspiration to us all!
