When we are new in Kendo, we think hitting the opponent is important. As we progress in Kendo, we start to appreciate the importance of how we hit the opponent.

Hitting the opponent is more like an external motivation. Focusing on how we make a strike is more like an internal motivation. Both aspects are important.
