Well more exciting news I am pleased to welcome Anna Wilson to the Caim Therapy rider team as a sponsed rider.
I have done a little work with Anna already on mindset and I look forward to continuing working with a person so dedicated to improving.
Welcome Anna πŸŽŠπŸ¦„πŸ‘πŸ₯°πŸ˜

What Anna has to say

I am a 22 year old rider from Hamilton who has a passion for dressage! Currently I have two horses on my team: Neversfelde Rupert who I compete at level 7 with, and AD Catch Phrase, my young horse. Having a good mindset and mental strategies is very important to be the best version of yourself, especially at a show! Working on your mental strength is just as important as your physical strength. I have some big goals for next season and beyond, so I am very excited and grateful to be joining Caim Therapy’s sponsored rider team!

Katrina specialises in helping riders to achieve their competition goals and overcome their mental blocks through a strengths based approach, and I am super excited to develop my competition and training strategies to be the best version of myself. Dressage is a challenging sport at the best of times, and being a dressage rider herself, Katrina understands this, and is able to combine her mindset coaching and therapy skills to achieve positive outcomes.

Personally, I am excited to develop strategies to improve my test riding and at home training, as well as working with my first young horse! Katrina has already had some great insights for me and strategies to work on, so I look forward to continuing to work with her and developing myself as a rider.

Therapy works best for people in different ways. It's really important as a therapist that I hold this in mind when I'm working with my clients.
Some need space 2 talk, vent and offload others need a sounding board for there troubles and things getting them stuck.
Others just need someone 2 or 4 legged to hold space for them and just be present in the moment so they can be authentically themselves.
Luckily my 4 legged co-workers are the very best at doing just that πŸ¦„πŸ’™

Opps I did it again 🀣🀣
Introducing Hannah Wong the new member of the Caim Therapy sponsored rider team πŸ’™ πŸ¦„πŸ’™πŸ¦„πŸ’™

My name is Hannah, I’m a dressage rider and I’ve been riding for as long as I can remember. Prior to becoming a mother I competed to Advanced/Level 6.

Since becoming a mum 5 years ago I’ve suffered from a lot of anxiety both in my general day to day life and with my riding. Working with Katrina has been pivotal for me learning ways to deal with my generalised anxiety and also ways and tools in how to cope with different things as they crop up unexpectedly. By learning these tools it has given me a huge amount of confidence in being able to step outside my comfort zone day to day and to be brave and start doing outings and competing again with my young horse. Being able to work through my fears and worries about the what ifs’ has been a life changer and it’s a great feeling being able to get back to enjoying the sport I love and my horse so much more again thanks to the work with Katrina I’ve been doing.

I look forward to the future having Katrina by my side through this journey.

My name is Katrina McGregor and this is abit about myself and what Caim therapy offers

Caim Therapy offers mindset coaching for riders alongside other therapy services. I works with riders using a strengths based approach to understand what is impacting performance, whether this is linked to lack of motivation, show anxiety, riding anxiety or just feeling stuck. I will help develop a plan to help riders work through concerns, working with them via online and in-person sessions.

Many riders have been benefiting from this work including Caim Therapy's fantastic sponsored riders scroll down to hear what they have to say.

I have years of experience competing in different sports starting young as a dancer. Then moving into competitive dog obedience wich came naturally with my love of animals. Later came my love of riding and dressage which was fostered with training under Bill Noble for more than 10 years on a variety of challenging horses.
I gained experience with starting young horses and training challenging/tricky horses in my early riding career but now due to injury focuses more on developing a happy horse and rider combination while out competing able-bodied and Para grade 5 GP dressage.

After a career as a vet nurse and zoo keeper, I retrained as a social worker and then continued my academic study gaining post graduate qualifications in the feild of mental health including but not limited to In
Interpersonal psychotherapy, ethics and welfare of animal assisted therapy and animals in social work which both inform my work in the field of mindset coaching.
I also gained post graduate qualifications in Maternal Mental Health and Infant Mental Health wich informs my work in the peri and post natal spaces along with Attachment Theory ACT, CBT, DBT REBT, and other theory of practice wich inform my adult and youth therapy work.

I have experience working in the primary and secondary feild of mental health and I bring this wealth of knowledge along with my academic and life experience when working with my clients.

Time for a post... I've had a little bit of down time as I was away competing my lovely horse and talk about super happy with him... we came away with Reserve Champion much to my surprise.
Like many of my clients I can have wobbly moments at shows and leading up to shows... and show day anxiety... wich as I tell my clients it is all normal within reason....
Things to look at is it impacting your performance do you know what triggers you and what you need in place to work threw it.
Myself lack of sleep is not my friend ( and I have a todler lol) also high winds....
I have found what I need though wich is to never rush getting ready.. doing my pre show bootcamps and touching base threwout a show with the people who's options I value and know will be positive thinkers.
I avoid negativity as much as posable.
Have you thought about what triggers you ? And dose your show anxiety or daily anxiety affect and impact your riding ?
And what would help you ?
All questions that are important to reflect on.
Now that I've done my chat and catchup I must also say I'm a super proud sponsor as as all buy one of my sponsored riders where competing over the weekend and all of them achieving great things and moving forward with there riding partnerships in a more relaxed way πŸ₯°πŸ¦„πŸ₯° well done all off you β€οΈπŸ’“πŸ₯°

Now to introduce my second new sponsored ride Holly Webb.
I'm very excited to be working with Holly going forward. I came across Holly as a rider when I found out she had a pony I started who is very special to me Buggs. And learnt how much that pony had helped her as a rider.
I have stayed in contact and have been enjoyed her progress onto the lovely Pete and just new Holly would be a great match for the Caim Therapy sponsored riders team.

What Holly has to say ......

Hi, my name is Holly Webb, I am a 15-year-old dressage rider. I have been riding for ten years, and have started riding competitive dressage in the past 4-5 years. I have competed on my previous pony to level 2, and now I am currently competing with my hack, Mia Picasso at level 2. I have one yearling at home who is being a great paddock mate while he grows and learns ground manners.
This season, I aim to get as much mileage in level 2 with Mia Picasso getting used to large championship-based environments/competitions. Next season I aim to continue up the levels into level 3 and see how far I can produce Mia Picasso to in the future.
I am super excited and grateful to be welcomed onto Caim Therapy as a new sponsored rider. Katrina is a mindset coach who helps riders look at their views and habits, helping riders progress and achieve their goals.
I am excited to see the progress and learning that I will gain with Katrina, finding my habits in competition and learning how to overcome them to further my riding skills, tactics/methods.

05/12/2023

The wait is over.......
Introducing Megan Nancarrow one of my two new sponsored riders joining the Caim Therapy team πŸ˜€.
I'm so excited to continue working with Megan who is a very talented rider and I have found her to be dedicated to doing the work needed to achieve her goals in shifting her mindset when needed. As well as just being a truly kind and lovely person.

What Megan has to say .....

Hi all my name is Megan and I'm super excited to continue my work with Katrina at Caim Therapy as her new sponsored rider.
Abit about me
I’ve been riding for 22 years, but for the first 10 years, I was not a competitive rider. Coming into competitive riding as a young adult and being a self-confessed perfectionist, I have struggled in silence for a very long time with my competition riding anxiety. I have 4 horses at home: My first ever pony, Joe Bloggs (32yo), my semi-retired β€˜happy hacker’, Angus (15yo), my main competition horse, Jax (9yo) and my youngster, Bella (3yo). Jax is a very hot warmblood mare who is so talented but also challenging at times. We are currently competing Medium level from our home base in South Auckland.

I've been working with Katrina for some time now, and I found her at just the right time! I’d been struggling with anxiety in riding and everyday life for some time and it got to the point where I was falling out of love with the sport I’ve done since I was 10 years old. Through working with her, I’ve been unpacking this, piece by piece, and am gradually falling back in love with riding again and becoming the person I want to be for my horses. I am so excited to see further improvement as we continue to work together.

28/11/2023

Super excited to have my new updated logo ☺️.
Love working with locals 2 creat something that represents me and Caim Therapy so well
Kylie Marie thanks so much for the fab work

What Caim Therapy's sponsored rider Nicole Sweney has to say.....

"I've been working with Katrina for close to a year now and it's been fascinating getting insights into how my mind works, and how everything is related - my personal life isn't so separate from my riding after all! I’m very excited to have a small team of dressage horses, and working with Katrina has given me lots of new tools to deal with things as they crop up (as they always do with horses!). I’ve had a few major challenges in the last few years, having been diagnosed with a neurological condition, and then having my top horse go out with injury for 7 months. It’s a real thrill to have both of us right again and be able to compete at Level 8 together. This is a new level for both of us, so it’s a fantastic learning opportunity and I’m just so grateful to be able to do it. I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with Katrina to maximise my performance and ensure that I’m doing the best I can for my horses, as well as ensuring that I continue to enjoy the sport and the animals that I love so much."

I look forward to continue working alongside Nicole as her sponsor into the future 😊πŸ₯°

29/10/2023

Well it's been a while since I did and update. I've been very busy with work and getting back into riding. My lovely new horse and I have competed at a couple of shows now and gotten a couple of ribbons.
There has been challenges as with all things in life but we have keeped pushing forward and will continue to do so.
Later today I'll be doing an update on my fabulous sponsored rider Nicole and also announcing a new sponsored rider who is joining my wonderful team of riders.
Love doing the work I do and being able to be envolved in the sport I love.
Feeling greatful to be so privileged to work alongside such talented and kind people.
What are you greatful for ?

30/07/2023

Being grounded and holding space can really help with connection.
My new boy Leo and I where getting abit sticky with our connection so back to groundwork we went and focused on being grounded and in the moment with each other and our connection has improved already πŸ’— this can be a good thing to reflect on in both our personal relationships and animal relationships and dose this need work ?
Along with my therapy work I also am privileged to walk alongside very talented horse people on ther journey as a mindset coach. And like all of my clients I am also a work in progress πŸ¦„πŸ’—
When did u last ground yourself and reconnect with someone ?

16/05/2023

Do you find yourself tired with no motivation at the end of your day ? Dose this stop you doing fun after work things?
I often talk to clients about self care and nourishing oneself. This is in multiple ways, one must nourish ones emotional self but also not forget one's physical self.
How many of you are guilty of skipping breakfast or just grabbing a caffinated drink and getting going for the day? I know I have been guilty of it. Next is who these days has time for morning tea? Some younger people may not even know that concept lol. Then comes lunch ..... what time do u have lunch? Mid day? 1pm? 2pm ? When u get 5mins if u get 5mins? Is it little wonder that our tanks are empty at the end of our day we are dealing with life stresses. Work stress, family stress, children stress, Co worker stress, that stress of other drivers on the road, just all the stress 😩.... and we don't fule our body's well.... then if we are lucky we may have a balanced dinner but how often do we not do that because we are to tired?
So I challenge you for the next 4 weeks get up and have breakfast and have an apple instead of your coffee... then have a snack for morning tea.... take your lunch break and eat some carbs and protein... then have a snack for afternoon tea... and see if you then have more energy for your after work day... and eat a balanced dinner PS no caffeine after 3pm people it will help with your self being nice deep restorative sleep.
I hope you accept the challenge as we must nourish ourselves it's part of self care 😊

Time for a big old shout out.
So those of us in the therapy space know self work is super important.
So thought I do mindset coaching alongside my other therapy work it dosnt mean like all people I don't have set backs. So after a couple years out of the saddle I relised I wasn't as confident as I once was.
So finding support was on my list of things to do. This is where the shout out comes.
I have been lucky enough to have ground support from Kylie at arbutus.lane.equine she has been my eyes on the ground helping me find my vibe with my lovely new horse.
No matter your situation it's important to acknowledge that everyone needs help at times and that is OK. It dosnt make you weak it shows self awareness and a desire to grow and develop.
So anyone who maybe looking for fab eyes on the ground or need a tune up in the saddle contact Kylie for some lessons she is based in Taranaki but also dose clinics in Australia as well.
And where me and my new horse have a long way to go we have made leaps and bounds with out connection together and finding a mutual understanding wich in turn has left me feeling more comftable and confident as a rider coming back into the sport πŸ₯°πŸ¦„

Some days it can all feel abit upside down or back the front.... and this can be overwhelming
It's important on these days to take a step back and think .... " is this really such a big deal" .... "is this a 10, the mountain exploding size stress you maybe feeling it is as it happens" or is this more " I a 1, dropped my ice cream sized stress and yes its frustrating but its not a natural disaster" sometimes putting things on a scale can help us really evaluate how much value we should give a situation and then in tern how much of ourselves and our time and worry is fair to give it... so on these days is the world really upside down ....?? Or is it more like a horse having a roll just a moment in time when things have tiped up and they will come right again if you just breath. πŸ™‚ what is your scale you would use when evaluating what is your 10 and what is your 0 ?
