Mānawatia a Matariki! We had a fantastic evening this week to celebrate Matariki, our successful Toastmasters year, our club's fantastic achievement of President's Distinguished Club status for the 2nd year, our member's achievements, and of course the exciting new Toastmasters year ahead!
What an amazing night it was last night!!!
The Area G4 Speech Contest hosted by our club featured 4 engaging speech categories:
International, Humorous, Evaluation, and Table Topics.
🇳🇿During the International Speech contests, Anthony's childhood "Don't touch!" story was enthralling.
Anna talked about her favorite song and the importance of pausing, captivating the audience. Bichitra mesmerized with his speech on cricket and humility.
📋During the Evaluation Contest, Max and Michael were tasked with assessing Terry Cave's speech about his experiences in South Korea and his insights on beauty and imperfection, providing valuable feedback for the benefit of all participants.
😂The third competition featured the Humorous Speech category. Tim from Wellington's club entertained us with his exciting drama/comedy experience with the ocean, and Christine captivated the audience with her hilarious stories, teaching us the valuable lesson of assuming nothing!
🚦Finally, we had three participants for the Table Topics contest. We have discovered that Michael's preferred season is winter, Serge's is summer, and Bichitra's is December.

Our fantastic line up of speakers from our Club International and Table Topics contests last week. Congrats to Mirendra, Steve, Larissa and Glen who will now be going on to represent us at our Area contest March 10!! The Thistle was a great venue as always, great food and service. Events outside added a little new challenge this time, but adaptability skills all round meant nothing came in the way of a great night out!
