Bacolod’s barangay vaccination rollout resumes
The barangay vaccination rollout of Bacolod City resumed today [June 14] and will run until June 23, with 26 vaccination centers in identified barangays and clustered areas.
These barangay vaccination centers are supervised by the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) and the COVID-19 Vaccination Council (CoVaC).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, who chairs both the EOC-TF and CoVac, said that public confidence in the vaccine is getting stronger, as evidenced by the increase in the number of people who have already been inoculated.
Today [June 14], the vaccination rollout opened in Barangays Granada and Handumanan, and ABES Cluster. The ABES Cluster catered to residents of San Juan Street that encompasses several barangays.
OIC-City Health Officer Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., who is also a deputy medical of the EOC-TF, said the rollout will also be held in the following dates and barangays:
June 15 [Tuesday]- Alangilan, Banago, Mansilingan, Montevista, and Pahanocoy
June 16 [Wednesday] – City Health Office Cluster (Barangays 20 and 30), Estefania, Felisa, and Mandalagan
June 17 [Thursday]- Brgy. 38 (Mabini), Brgy. 39 (Libertad and Lopez Jaena), Alijis, Bata, Punta Taytay, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, Villamonte, Vista Alegre, and Taculing
June 21 [Monday] – ETCS Cluster, Tangub
June 22 [Tuesday]- Villa Esperanza (Tangub)
June 23 [Wednesday] – Cabug
While the vaccination rollout is happening in these barangays, the vaccination activities at SMX Convention Center in SM City and at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central are ongoing daily from Mondays to Fridays.
The vaccination rollout covers Bacolod residents belonging to the A1 to A3 priority groups — frontline health care workers, senior citizens, and adults with comorbidities.
A total of 11,493 Bacolodnons were inoculated in the first barangay vaccination rollout that was held in several barangays from May 14 to 21.
The vaccines being rolled out in the second batch are part of the 17,000 additional doses of Sinovac vaccines allocated by the national government that the City received last June 5 and 8.
Miraflor said that 17,000 Sinovac doses will be used to inoculate 8,500 new Bacolodnon vaccinees who are receiving first and second doses.
From March 5 up to June 11, the CoVaC has already administered 42,173 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Of the number, 32,538 were for first doses, and 9,635 were for second doses.
Of this number, 20,288 doses were of Sinovac brand, while 21,885 doses were of AstraZeneca brand.
City Administrator Em Ang, EOC executive director and CoVaC coordinator, said they discourage walk-ins at the vaccination centers in order to control the crowd.
"They must complete their registration first, and then wait to be notified of their schedule," Ang stressed.
To avail of the free vaccination, Bacolod residents should register online through this link: tinyurl.com/bcdceironline or go personally to their respective Barangay Halls.*/CITY PIO
