DAX CUA TO LTO: SUSPEND CHARGES ON MODIFIED VEHICLES

Representative Dakila Carlo “Dax” E. Cua filed House Resolution Number 2269 directing the LTO to suspend the implementation of charges on modified vehicles and the Committee on Transportation to conduct an inquiry on relevant laws and policies.

Several reports were made in both traditional and social media alleging arbitrary and subjective action by the LTO against owners of modified vehicles. Per Department Order 2010-32 of the DOTC modifications involving safety and environment shall not be allowed. These include change of rim size and modification of handle bar and muffler, among others.

“There is a need to review the existing laws and policies in order to ensure that they do not overly encroach upon every person's constitutionally guaranteed right to property,” said Cua.
