At the 'SEA Visionary Leaders Panel: Strategies to Empower a Sustainable Future for Asia,' hosted by Paul Marriott, President of SAP Asia Pacific & Japan, our CITO Shui-Min shared invaluable insights on the significance of transformation and upskilling. Joined by Khoo Kok Yeow, CIO of SinarMas, and Peerapong Krinchai, EVP - Central Engineering at Charoen Pokphand Foods, Shui-Min emphasised, "When it comes to cloud adoption, we ensured our approach was 'Cloud Smart' rather than just 'Cloud First'."
Meanwhile, our Director of IT Applications, Chan Hse-Ming, contributed to the 'C-Suite Conversations: Evolving Role of the CIO & Orchestrating the Business as a Symphonic C-Suite.' This session, moderated by Cécile Anglada, PwC SEA SAP Alliance Director, PwC South East Asia Consulting, included Anthony Huang, President & CEO of SSI Group, Inc., Benoit De Saeger, Regional Director - CFO at Terumo Asia Holding, and Yeong Keat Yaw, Head of Digital & Technology at DIALOG Group.

This event was part of the grand opening of the CyberSG Talent, Innovation, and Growth (TIG) Collaboration Centre! The event featured distinguished guests including Dr. Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communication and Information of Singapore (MCI), as the Guest of Honour, along with Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of NUS, and Mr. David Koh, Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).
The CyberSG TIG Collaboration Centre is a joint initiative between CSA and NUS, aimed at elevating talent, innovation, and growth programmes. This strategic partnership aspires to position Singapore as a premier global cybersecurity innovation hub, driving economic growth and meeting the rising demand for robust cybersecurity solutions.
Leong Boon expertly engaged the panellists with questions tailored to each expert’s journey and also fielded questions from eager attendees ready to kickstart their own start-up adventures.
Overall, it was an informative and inspiring session, highlighting that cybersecurity is a collaborative effort. We extend our gratitude to TIG for inviting Leong Boon and congratulations on this momentous occasion! 🥳

🌟 Our NUS President was thrilled to see 4 teams with members from 3 departments and 1 team with representatives from 5 departments! This showcases the true spirit of . Seeing both novices and experts dive into the world of digital and AI tools was truly inspiring.

Exciting News! On July 5th, 2024, NUS and StarHub inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create Singapore's first 'Borderless University'. 🌟
This pioneering initiative will elevate our teaching and learning experience with ultra-fast, secure network connectivity across the island, supported by a dedicated Enterprise 5G data network and innovative eSIM technology.
Ms Tan Shui-Min, NUS Chief Information Technology Officer, shared, "This collaboration with StarHub aligns with our vision for a future-oriented learning environment. Both staff and students will benefit from seamless access to NUS’ resources and the internet, wherever they are in Singapore; and in the future, overseas, without the need for VPN or other remote access technologies."
The MOU signing ceremony, held at NUS, marks a significant milestone in NUS IT’s journey towards establishing the first ‘Borderless University’ in Singapore, setting a precedent for the integration of advanced digital technologies in higher education and we're looking forward to the infinite possibilities✨

Shui-Min was part of a transformative workshop on “Adopting Immersive Technologies to Improve Learning Outcomes,”. Facilitated by Laura Duckett from Times Higher Education, Shui-Min was amongst esteemed experts Dr. Sasa Arsovski, Dean of AI and Robotics at Raffles University and Professor Eugene Ch'ng, Dean of the School of Culture and Creativity at BNU-HKBU UIC. The discussions involved the 3 panel members moving from table to table to share and exchange with a different set of delegates in time intervals. Refreshing insights from different institutions were gleaned and heard at each switch, making the learning experience deeper and wider.

🏆 Throwback Thursday to the exhilarating moments of Health Hack 2024!
Anne Neo, a skilled Data Engineering Associate Architect from our very own NUS IT department, led “Team Inspire” to clinch the third prize! 🌟
Their triumph in the Healthcare Sustainability theme underscored the team’s creativity and collaborative brilliance despite being from different agencies/departments. Her teammates are Dr Poh Pei Kee (Consultant Anaesthetist, NUH), Mr Allan Loi (Senior Sustainability Associate, CSRWorks International), and Ms Liu Ching Man (Manager for Curriculum Development for the Undergraduate Medical Curriculum, NUS Medicine Dean's Office). They crafted an innovative solution meticulously tracking scope 3 carbon emissions of medical devices, including syringes used in operating theatres, at a micro level. 💡
This victory resonates deeply as a testament to medicine's dynamic evolution, propelled by advancements in artificial intelligence and digital technology. Health Hack 2024, organised by NUS Medicine, is the first-ever digital health tech-focused hackathon by NUS, drawing over 1000 participants into its inclusive fold. Here, collaboration and innovation flourished, rallying minds to tackle some of the industry's key challenges head-on.

Huge congratulations to the Interreality Technology Team for their outstanding achievement as co-investigators in the 'MAGIC' project, winning the Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year award at Times Higher Education Awards Asia Ceremony! 🏆👏
Their ground-breaking initiative, "Managing Aggression using Immersive Content (MAGIC) – A Blended Learning Experience using Virtual Reality," is reshaping the landscape of medical education. Developed in collaboration with Principal Investigator, Dr Cyrus Ho, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychological Medicine at NUS Medicine Co-Investigator, Dr Shawn Goh, Assistant Professor at NUS Nursing and a diverse team including researchers from NUS Medicine, NUS Nursing, and the National University Hospital, as well as dedicated medical students, this interdisciplinary effort epitomises innovation and excellence in teaching!
The judges lauded National University of Singapore for addressing a challenging yet crucial concept with their initiative. They remarked, “Their initiative illuminates how contemporary technology – virtual or augmented reality, in this case – can be employed to advance better learning at scale. Their comprehensive, systemic approach includes teacher preparation, engaging stakeholder teams, looking at evidence, and planning for growth. It should serve as a model for promoting an enduring culture of teaching and learning.”
