Sometimes, losing a job can open the door to new opportunities – just ask Airul.

After being retrenched from his role as a project coordinator in the construction sector, Airul realised how quickly the job market was evolving. He knew he needed to reskill to stay competitive. Spotting the rapid growth in the tech sector, he enrolled in the Cybersecurity Associate course of the SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme (SCTP) with NTUC LearningHub. Despite his lack of tech experience, Airul’s perseverance paid off. He mastered the necessary skills and landed a job as a cybersecurity administrator in the aviation industry, where he now conducts system risk assessments and monthly log reviews. 🚀

Airul advises others considering a career transition to seize every opportunity to reskill and upgrade themselves: “Most companies today no longer just look for those with ‘X’ years of experience. They want to know what skills and certifications you have. We need to constantly improve to stay employable.”

Our community is a vibrant, inclusive space for residents of diverse background – thanks to our partners such as APSN, and Arulmigu Velmurugan Gnanamuneeswarar Temple (AVGMT)!

During Mayor Desmond Choo 朱倍庆’s recent visit to APSN and AVGMT, we had the chance to understand the organisations’ upcoming activities and initiatives, while exploring more ways to strengthen our community support together. 🙏

At the age of 26, Aaron Yeo became paralysed in all four limbs following a devastating accident. Despite being confined to a wheelchair for life and having to battle years of depression, Aaron never gave up.

He defied the odds and found strength through art. He developed an exceptional talent in mouth painting and will be one of the artists we celebrate at Shaping Hearts 2024, Singapore’s largest inclusive arts festival. 🌟👨‍🎨
