(a) Clickable links from unsolicited or random emails, messages, images or advertisements
(b) Spoofed website addresses (such as www.m1cr0soft.1234.com.co)
(c) Requests for your one-time passwords (OTPs), personal or banking details
(d) Prompts to download attachments or third-party apps outside official app stores
Always remember to perform these CHECK actions 📋:
(a) Do not use links or QR codes provided by unknown persons to make payments or transfers
(b) Never disclose you personal information, internet banking and social media account details, and OTPs to anyone
(c) Always verify the authenticity of unsolicited links you received and check the webpage addresses for discrepancies

🚦Road Safety🚦
On 22 July 2024, Geylang NPC held a crime prevention talk at Super Talent Childcare @ MacPherson 93.
Our officers advised the children on what they should do when crossing the road. The children also had the opportunity to sit and take photos in our Fast Response Car.
Always cross the road at designated pedestrian crossings, overhead bridges, zebra crossings or underpasses. Safety is not an accident - it's a choice each of us can make.
Does patrolling on foot technically mean mobile patrol as we are “mobile”?
📣 From 1 Jul 2024, all SMSes sent from government agencies, ministries, statutory boards, and services will show ‘gov.sg’ as the sender ID. It makes it easier for the public to verify authentic government communications sent by SMS, with greater confidence and accuracy. 🎯
📲 A legitimate SMS from the government should have all four of these indicators: 📋
(a) The sender ID is gov.sg with all letters in lowercase.
(b) The SMS begins with the full name of the agency or service that sent it.
(c) The SMS ends with this signature: “This is an automated message sent by the Singapore Government.”
(d) SMSes from gov.sg are grouped into a single conversation, even if they are from different agencies.
Always remember that government officials, especially the Police, will never
ask the public to do the following over the phone or through text messages: 👿
(a) Transfer money to bank accounts;
(b) Request for personal, banking, SingPass or CPF-related information;
(c) Ask you to click on links that lead to bank websites; or
(d) Ask you to install applications or software from third-part websites.

Received a call from an unknown number and the caller claims to be someone you know? The caller asks you to guess his/her identity and asked you to save the new number? Subsequently he/she asks you an emergency loan, help to perform a banking transaction or install a third-party app to make restaurant reservation? This is a Fake Friend Call Scam! 😡
Do these CHECK actions 📋:
- Verify the caller’s identity by calling their last known number, contacting them via other means or meet up in person
- Check with someone you trust, such as mutual friends, to confirm the identity of the caller
- Only install apps from official app stores and do not click on links sent via text messages by someone you have not verified

🔎Stranger Danger🔎
On 18 July 2024, Geylang NPC did a crime prevention talk at Raffles Montessori Kindergarten (Aljunied).
Our officers shared with the children tips on what they should do when a stranger approached them as well as the different types of police equipment! The children relished the opportunity to try on and take photos with the equipment on!
If you see anyone loitering and behaving suspiciously at a car park or outside a house, take note of the person's description and call the Police immediately. Your call may just help make our neighbourhood a safer place.
A minute to lock, a whole day at ease.
Secure your bicycle for a peace of mind!
Watch out for our friendly Citizens-on-Patrol (COP) at your neighbourhood!

🌻 An Annual Affair 🌻
On 9 July 2024, Geylang NPC had our crime prevention talk at Sunflower Preschool @ Dakota.
Our officers have been doing such talks with the school since 2022 and we were heartened to hear that the children remembered us! The children also came up to us during other events and patrols, saying that they recognised us from the talks!
It is moments like these that warm the cockles of our hearts and remind us why we do what we do as police officers! We look forward to strengthening our relationship with our community and residents.
Chat with our friendly officers! Drinks are on us
Join us on 17/07/24, 10am to 11am at 65 Circuit Road Singapore 370065 (BGAIN 65 Eating House)
