This is the Original Plan of Gate of Heaven Church in 1896. The Architect had the plan to add two spires on the front of the Church. Possibly, it got too costly to add those spires. Or the story is told that then Cardinal O'Connell came by to see the progress and said to the Pastor: "There will only be one Cathedral in Boston!" The two spires were not added.
Cardinal Sean O'Malley joined us in celebrating the start of Lent at the 6PM Ash Wednesday Mass. The Church was filled with many standing at the back of the Church. The Church was filled with Young Adult Parishioners. All of our Ash Wednesday Masses at Gate of Heaven and St. Brigid were wonderful celebrations. Welcome to Lent!
School is canceled on Tuesday, Feb 13th. There will be no 7AM or 9AM Daily Mass on this Tuesday.
Tickets now available at the Parish Office! And at our Coffee and Conversation dates in February.

Major Roof Repairs to our Beautiful Gate of Heaven Church!
As you can see slates and downspouts were missing and water was penetrating the roof and walls. The copper downspouts fell off the building in high winds and then were stolen this past year. Thanks to all those who continue to support our Parish so that we can perform regular maintenance on our Church. Work continues the next few days!
A beautiful Fall Day at our South Boston Catholic Academy Early Childhood Center Playground. The Pre-schoolers enjoyed the golden orange leaves falling from their special tree that gives them shade on the sunny days!
Children from Grade 4 at South Boston Catholic Academy celebrated with Fr. Casey at Catholic TV Mass for the feast of All Saints! They sang "When the Saints go Marching in" at the conclusion of the Mass.
