These three beautiful and brainy 2016 high school graduates were recognized at Leila Green’s scholarship luncheon. Amiesha Barnes and Micaelah Morgan were our scholarship winners. All three of these young ladies have completed their assignments.Amiesha graduated from Walsh University in 2019, Taylor graduated from Youngstown State University in 2020 and Micaelah graduated from Kent State University in May 2022. We are so proud of these young ladies. Investing in our young people continues to be so rewarding! On this won’t you please support our scholarship fund with a donation? No amount is too small💚

11/28/2022

Leila Green has given away tens of thousands of scholarship money to hundreds of individuals over our close to fifty year existence. So many have gone on and become viable members of this and other communities all across the United States! We are asking past scholarship recipients and/or their families to make a donation to our scholarship fund and help us continue to help graduating seniors move on to the next level. Thank you in advance for continuing to pay it forward!

As our campaign has begun on behalf of our scholarship fund, I wanted to give an update on one of our 2019 scholarship awardees! I’m happy to report that Jade graduated from Howard University in May 2022 with a degree in Communications. She is contemplating grad school, but is still undecided. We are so proud of Jade and this amazing accomplishment! This is why we do what we do! Please consider giving towards our scholarship fund!!💚💚

We can not let this year and holiday season end without acknowledging and celebrating a very special young lady by the name of Jade-Vella Dedrick. Jade was one of our $1,000 scholarship winners of 2019. She graduated from CCSD’s Early College High School with her diploma as well as an Associates Degree. She went on to attend Howard University in the fall of 2019 where she excelled.

Jade took it upon herself to send us the email below, to share her experiences at Howard. She also expressed gratitude to Leila Green and share the fruits of her labor....ALL A’s! What an accomplishment! We were so happy to hear from Jade and couldn’t be prouder of such a successful start to her college career.

This is why we do what we do...fundraiser after fundraiser after fundraiser on behalf of our scholarship fund...to support students such as this young lady.

Keep up the good work Jade! The sky’s the limit to you and all of our current and former scholarship recipients!

“Good evening!

I hope everything is well. My name is Jade Dedrick, I am a first year sophomore at Howard University studying TV and Film Production. I was one of the Leila Green scholarships recipients from the class of 2019 from Timken Early College High School. I just wanted to reach out to you and the members of the Leila Green Alliance of Black School Educators to express my gratitude once again and let you know about my first semester at Howard University. My experience so far has been really great and I honestly can say Howard is doing a really great job at preparing me for my future career. I was able to accomplish a 4.0 gpa, while getting involved in with the campus radio station and various organizations that focus on community service, sisterhood, and self-development.

Enjoy the holidays!”

It was exactly one month and one day ago, that the Canton City School Board unanimously approved renaming Allen Elementary as

We still do not have a date for the renaming ceremony and celebration, but once we do we will post!!!

Allen School is now Stephanie Rushin Patrick Elementary On July 13th, 2020, the Canton City school board unanimously approved renaming Allen Elementary as Stephanie Rushin Patrick Elementary School.

We Did It!!! Congratulations Stephanie!!!

07/09/2020

After a year and a half of research, 3 months of petitioning the CCSD School Board via public speaks, emails and phone calls by individuals in support of this effort; the board is prepared to cast their votes at the July 13th meeting. We are thankful to have finally arrived at this phase of our journey and remain confident that in the fall of 2020 our students will attend the Stephanie Rushin Patrick Elementary School! We look forward to seeing those that are able, in attendance at Monday’s meeting to witness this historic vote! Thank You!

05/13/2020

There’s been many of the same questions asked about the Allen School renaming. Hopefully the following will offer some clarification...

*The proposal to rename Allen School in honor of Stephanie Patrick was initiated by the Leila Green Alliance of Black School Educators. President Yvonne Parks presented rationale for this renaming during public speaks at the March 9th CCSD Board Meeting.

*At the time, this was unbeknownst to Ms. Patrick.

*The proposal is only for a name change of the building. Stephanie Patrick will not be the principal. The school is and will continue to be a public school in the CCSD.

*This page was specifically created to garner community support on behalf of the renaming of Allen School.

*As far as we know, the CCSD Board of Education will vote on this proposal at the July board meeting.

05/12/2020

Just a note of appreciation for supporting this renaming effort of Allen Elementary. Your “likes” and “shares” of this page is an important part of helping to make this a reality. Please continue to invite others to like this page, consider writing a letter to the CCSD Board of Education, express your support of the building name change during the “public speaks” portion of the May 18th or June 15th board meeting. Let’s do this!!
