When kids learn to manage their emotions in childhood it leads to positive attitudes and behaviors later in life.
Here are some practical ways to help you facilitate this process👇🏾
💡Open Communication: Encourage open and non-judgmental communication. Let your child know that it’s okay to talk about their positive and negative feelings.
💡Label Emotions: Teach your child to recognize and label their emotions. Use simple words like “happy,” “sad,” “angry,” and “excited” to help them describe their feelings.
💡Model Emotional Expression: Children learn a lot from observing what we do—model healthy emotional expression by sharing your own feelings and talking with your children about how you manage them.
💡Ask Open-Ended Questions: Instead of asking yes or no questions, use open-ended questions like, “Can you tell me about your day?” This encourages your child to share more about their experiences and express their feelings.
💡Empathetic Listening: When your child talks about their feelings, listen attentively without interrupting or judging. Show empathy and validate their emotions, even if you don’t fully understand what they are saying.
💡Empower Them: Encourage your child to make choices and express their preferences. This helps them to develop a sense of agency and control over their emotions.
Creating a safe and supportive environment where all feelings are valued and respected is so important for helping children learn about and express their emotions. What are your thoughts on this?
💚🤍💚May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Focus on being intentional and purposeful this month. Lean into rest, self-care, and relaxation if that’s what mental wellness looks like for you.💚🤍💚
But also, don’t be afraid to speak up about the things you are struggling with. The purpose of mental health awareness is to help remove the stigma by sharing some of these struggles and knowing that you are not alone. Don’t own the shame! We’re always here if you want to talk about it 😁
We’re proud of you for being here! 🫶🏾Come sit with us and talk about it when you’re ready 😊 You can start your sessions in as early as a few days following your initial consultation.

The very first step in setting a boundary is identifying what you need and **believing you are worthy of it.**
Only then can you access the conviction and confidence required to set a boundary that protects your needs.
Searching for a therapist can be a daunting task. A lot of people don’t know where to start looking and then when they start, it’s difficult to find someone that they can relate to or that looks like them.
There are many mental health directories available, but here I’ve highlighted 4 that are specifically targeted to black and brown communities.
❤️🩷❤️This is the day for lovers! But always remember that no matter what this day looks like for you, loving yourself is the top priority. Love on yourself a little bit extra today so you can have enough to share with someone else. ❤️🩷❤️
Black people don’t seek therapy nearly as much as our white counterparts. Why? Many factors contribute to this including stigma, limited resources, lack of diversity in the field, and quite frankly, the normalization of trauma in our community.
-
This month we want to emphasize the importance of black mental health and share a few resources that may help you, your family, and friends. Stay tuned!
-
In the meantime, don’t forget we have a full staff of black women that are here to let you tell your story. We are ready to hold space for you on your healing journey. We hear you, we see you, your experience is valid and it matters!

With the month of love coming up, we felt this repost might strike a nerve with some of you. If you see yourself in any of these… discuss it at your next therapy session.

“If you typically fall for people who aren’t compatible with you, dating can feel like an emotional rollercoaster,” writes psychologist Roxy Zarrabi, Psy.D. (.roxyzarrabi). “It’s tough to continue putting yourself out there when you feel like you’re not getting the results you want.” If you or someone you know is frequently disappointed by dating, it can help to identify the obstacles that may be getting in the way. Here’s what to look out for.
You keep saying you’re going to go to therapy… well now is as good of a time as any! We’re here and ready when you are. Let’s work! 💪🏾

As much as we love social media, giving it a break along with meditation goes hand in hand. Spend some alone time with you and see just how refreshed you become. As always we are here to help if you struggle with any of these. Call us :) 🧘🏽♀️ ✨
