Promoting Latino/a College Access since 1972. Proyecto Pa’Lante is also a University admitting body, responsible for recruiting and admitting students.

Proyecto Pa'Lante is an academic support services program that has historically and continues to serve Latino students who demonstrate academic potential, but do not meet the general University admissions requirements. Students in this program are given a two-year adjustment period to meet University academic requirements. They must actively participate in the assistance programs provided and show

Proyecto Pa'Lante's Noche De Celebración | NEIU 03/26/2024

Proyecto Pa'Lante is celebrating its 50th Anniversary on Friday, April 12th from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. at NEIU's Alumni Hall (5500 N. St. Louis). We are creating an Endowment Fund in honor of former Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez and former Senator Miguel Del Valle to continue to support our students for the next 50 years. Please donate, support, and share with others. Jessie Fuentes (a Proyecto Pa'Lante alumna) and alderperson will be our Keynote speaker and the Honorable Miguel del Valle will also be a speaker at our event. The link to the Endowment is below.

Prof. Mirelsie Velázquez has received the American Educational Studies Association's (AESA) Critics' Choice Book Award for her book "Puerto Rican Chicago: Schooling the City, 1940-1977." Prof. Velázquez and her fellow CCBA recipients will be recognized at the AESA Annual Meeting on November 8th.

2024 Call for Workshop and Poster Proposals Submission Deadline: Friday, January 5, 2024 at 5pm (CST)

The Illinois Latino Council on Higher Education (ILACHE) welcomes members and non-members to submit a workshop or poster proposal for consideration for our 31st annual Conference. Faculty, staff, and students across disciplines are encouraged to submit workshop and poster proposals addressing this year’s conference theme, “Advocating for Latino/a/x Leadership & Access: Campeones de Equidad.”

Workshop Proposals:
We welcome workshop proposals that address this year's conference theme, are relevant to practice, and are engaging. Proposals that address exciting topics in formats that are interactive and innovative are preferred over lecture-style.

Student Poster Proposals:
We invite students from all fields of study to submit poster presentations showcasing their ideas, research, best practices, interests, and passions. Previously presented and/or submitted work, as well as exceptional work from honors theses, dissertations, and McNair projects, are welcome for presentation. Your poster submission need not adhere to the conference theme.

It’s that time again! Our 2023 scholarship application is OPEN.

All Illinois Latino students pursuing educational endeavors post-high school are eligible to apply! Twenty students will be selected to received a one-time award of $5,000 towards their education.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in leadership development opportunities, engage with the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation, and attend our 2023 Gala!

The National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express have launched the Backing Historic Small Restaurants Grant Program to help small, historic restaurants address critical needs amid ongoing economic challenges. The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership is encouraging small, historic restaurants along Route 66 to apply for this grant program, with applications due on March 12, 2023. The program aims to support restaurants that contribute to the history and identity of their surrounding communities and tell an inclusive story about cuisine and community in America. The Route 66 Road Ahead Partnership is also urging restaurants to mention their connection to Route 66 when applying for the grant.
