Zahra Institute is pleased to offer Master of Arts degrees as well as Certificates in Kurdish Studies and Critical Muslim Studies. We also offer Kurdish language courses (Kurmanji and Sorani) as electives in the MA program or as standalone courses.

In 1988 the city of Halabja was attacked with chemical weapons by a tyrannical regime and thousands of innocent Kurds were massacred. The martyrdom of Halabja is a reminder that the Kurds shall persevere and uphold their dignity at all costs. Bi serfirazî!

His talk, "The Emergence of Kurdish Nationalism: The Sheikh Ubeydullah Uprising of 1880," will examine this well-known rebellion against Iranian authority in the larger Kurdish historical context.
