In this week's spotlight: Adrian Carrazco!
Adrian is a graduate student in the Master of Business Administration program at Northeastern Illinois University . He previously earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in May 2022 and will be graduating with his MBA this May.
Adrian is very passionate about being involved with the university and making a positive and lasting impact on students during their time at NEIU. Since 2021, he has worked for the College of Business and Technology as a tutor for the Business Statistics, , , and Applied Business Research courses helping students enhance their math skills, Excel skills, and study strategies. Adrian currently serves as the Vice President of the CBT Student Advisory Council and the President of the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) club, and he is a member of the American Marketing Association (AMA) club. He was also recently inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society for his outstanding academic achievements.
Outside of school, you can find him at a concert, at a drag show, at the gym, or just out exploring all that has to offer!
Here is Adrian's message to the NEIU Community:
"Enjoy your time at NEIU! Meet new people, join a club, get involved, and you’ll find that NEIU has a lot to offer to help you grow both personally and professionally. Know that it’s okay to not have everything figured out, but we have amazing faculty and staff who are here to help guide you through your academic journey, so be sure to take advantage of the resources available to you such as office hours, academic advising, tutoring, and career development."
We asked Adrian, "If you could choose a fictional character to be a professor at NEIU, who would it be, and what course would they teach?"
"I would love to see Michael Scott from The Office teach a course on Sales Management or Principles of Management because he’s very good at his job, but he’s also goofy, funny, and knows how to not take himself too seriously. He’s the kind of person who would tap into his creative side to make class fun and engaging, and you would never know what to expect from him!"

Her dedication to academic excellence is further evidenced by her participation in the NEIU Honors Program, where she actively collaborates with professors to enhance her coursework.
Balancing her academic pursuits with full-time employment at Northeastern Illinois University, Jocelyn showcases her ability to thrive under pressure. As a passionate enthusiast, she is dedicated to exploring innovative strategies that bridge the gap between people and products. Her enthusiasm for marketing extends beyond the classroom as she eagerly tackles real-world challenges at the intersection of and .
Looking ahead, Jocelyn is excited about the opportunities that await her post-graduation in December 2025. With her diverse skill set and unwavering determination, she is poised to make a significant impact wherever her journey takes her.
We asked Jocelyn, "If you could choose a fictional character to be a professor at NEIU, who would it be, and what course would they teach?"
"If I could choose a fictional character to teach at NEIU, it would be John Keating from "Dead Poets Society." With his wit and genuine outlook on life, Keating would be an ideal professor for a marketing course. In an industry often marred by manipulative tactics and questionable ethics, Keating's emphasis on authenticity and integrity would be a refreshing approach. He would instill in his students the importance of connecting with audiences in genuine and meaningful ways, rather than resorting to deceptive practices."

We asked Dr. Xu, "Which three fictional characters would you want as colleagues in your workplace?"
"I would pick Frodo Baggins from “The Lord of the Rings” for his courage, resilience, and determination; Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from “Journey to the West” for his strength, agility, and magical abilities; and Ellis “Red” Redding from “The Shawshank Redemption" for his wisdom, adaptability, and friendship."
