On this day in 1890, Mary Blood and Ida Morey Riley founded the Columbia School of Oratory. Since then, thousands of creatives have had their start with Columbia. Two new murals on the Wabash Arts Corridor come courtesy of Columbia's talented faculty. Get to know the artists and their work:
🐇 "Curious Bunny" by Assistant Professor Cheri Charlton is a playful piece on the side of Columbia's Student Center. At 11,000 square feet, it’s now the largest mural created by a woman in Chicago.
🐊 "Alligators" by Assistant Professor Cecilia Beaven is bringing vibrancy to the facade of 916 S. Wabash Ave. This mural features alligator silhouettes in bold colors against a black background.

Singer m.e.h.’s journey from national anthems in Maryland to Lollapalooza in Chicago 08/07/2024

Last weekend Megan Hammond '22 was back near campus.
She performed across the street in Grant Park on Lollapalooza's Chicago Made Music Showcase under her artist name m.e.h.
m.e.h. spoke with WBEZ ahead of her Lolla debut.

Singer m.e.h.’s journey from national anthems in Maryland to Lollapalooza in Chicago Megan Hammond came to Chicago in 2018 to study music at Columbia College. Since then, she’s released her own songs that highlight her powerful vocals, artful lyricism and genre-bending range.

A strategic collaboration between BehrPaint, The Home Depot, One Summer Chicago, and Columbia College Chicago is bringing multiple new murals to the Wabash Arts Corridor and campus buildings.
This collaboration will continue to beautify the South Loop, feature local artists, and provide hands-on experience to Columbia students and recent graduates. Photo shows muralist Cheri Charlton's "Curious Bunny" in the beginning stages.
