Each year on September 17, educational institutions and organizations recognize Constitution Day. This year, the Library will host two screenings of What the Constitution Means to Me, originally a Broadway play that was brought to film by Amazon Studios. The play won an Obie for best American play and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for drama, both in 2019.

Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Heidi Schreck earned her college tuition by winning Constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful, and achingly human show, Heidi resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives.

It will be shown both in-person on the 2nd Floor of the Library and virtually on Zoom (login is required for viewing) from 12-2pm and 4-6pm. For more information, go to: https://events.colum.edu/calendar/day/2021/9/17. This is a Columbia Engage program and can fulfill your Engage Community category.
