雲門行草-永字八法clip 07/27/2022

A modern dance interpreting Chinese brush calligraphy, choreographed by the legendary 林怀民 /林懷民 Lín Huáimín

行草 Xíng Cǎo a cursive writing style, literally "walking on grass" or "movement of grass" depending on how you segment the word 行 "move, walk" and 草 “grass', or "casually". ”行草“ is a relaxed style.

”永“:beginners of Chinese calligraphy like to start with writing the character "永‘ -for good reasons. Although this character is as simple as having only eight strokes, each stroke is different. This character assembles all the common strokes found in Chinese writing。
