Combustion Brewery in Clintonville is opening early for our Pride Ride! We will ride down there and have a brew to toast all the people that have shown the courage to stand up to hate, censorship and bigotry.

For the fifth year in a row, Johnny Velo Bikes underwent vigorous testing of how we respond via email, social media, in person, and on the phone to customers. Out store and website were reviewed. We underwent a secret shop by a national company, and had to not only show our community involvement, store policies and procedures, but this year also had to undergo an in depth financial analysis of how we run our shops. We spent hours completing this review. Proud to represent the 5,000 shops as an excellent independent bike dealer.

We are THRILLED to announce our winners for this year's Retailer Excellence Award, but we're also thrilled FOR them. To see the work they put in was a gift!

This year we got to journey alongside our retailers as they moved from application/showing interest through to winning.

What an opportunity for learning, growth, and vulnerability.

Although we were competitors, there wouldn't have been Johnny Velo Bikes without Roll. I worked at Roll part time in addition to my fulltime job in fintech sales, to learn the business with the intent on opening my own shop some day in my mid-fifties. A corporate downsizing put that on a fast pace, and seven months later JVB was born. The bike industry is in a huge turmoil right now. Manufacturers are going out of business. Bike shops across the country are closing and here locally, we have seen Wheelie Fun and now four Roll locations close within the last six months. That represents about 25% of the local independent bikes shop locations in central Ohio. To see local businesses like CD92.9 and Roll go out of business this year will leave a gaping hole in our communities. Please support local whenever you can.
