Hotels that welcome pets if you need to evacuate for the hurricane

These hotels will welcome you, your pet during a hurricane With Dorian taking aim at Florida, the reality of an emergency evacuation for people threatened by hurricanes is very real. While it may be an easy decision to pack up your most prized possessions, one thing that often gets left behind in natural disaster evacuations is a pet.

Hello I am Hatcher! I was born on May 23rd. I am a neutered male coonhound who will get to be 55-80lbs. I need a home with a yard and a family that can keep me active. My breed is very clever, affectionate, intelligent, active, and trainable. We are not for the faint hearted. I need someone who will spend a lot of time in training me and understanding I’m a hound with a voice and to not fault me for it. We are some of the best dogs if you just give us a chance. I am a 15-20 year commitment that will be totally worth it. As you can see I am missing an ear, have a little issue with one of my eyes, and I have a kinked tail. Life wasn’t easy for me at first. I was apart of an accidental litter that was born one of the hottest weeks at the beginning of summer. My mom was trying to move us to cooler spots a lot and accidentally bit off my ear and possibly got my eye a little bit. None of those things effect me though. I’m still a puppy with the drive to please you and my sniffer still works 😉. The family couldn’t keep me as they have my parents and other dogs to care for but they really tried to find me a forever home but then came the day they reached out to an organization on the way to taking me to the shelter in a rural county. Well someone had a soft spot for me and took me in. I really like to follow you wherever you go I just want to be Velcro to you ... unless a smell seems a little more interesting. I need a home with a lot of room to run outdoors so no apartments please. I hope to meet you soon! I promise it will be love at first sight! Contact Sara via call or text 9108334184

Lucy is a 1 year old lab mix that her family is unable to keep. Her landlord is threatening eviction in a week. She is beside herself and doesn’t want to take her to a shelter.
Lucy is vaccinated, spayed and good with kids. Since she is a solo dog, she hasn’t been exposed to other dogs or cats. She is very friendly and good with kids, but she has a lot of energy. She pees and poops in one place outside. For more information please email

Adoptable kittens and cats!!!

Alright guys...the Management Team had their weekly meeting today. And, after discussing it at length, we have decided that we need to get our cat & kitten population down. We are currently caring for 387 adult cats and kittens and the number of felines coming into the shelter is not slowing down. So...until further notice, ALL available kittens will be only $50 to adopt. ALL available adult cats will be $25 to adopt. We will continue to use the same adoption screening processes we always have and all cats/kittens will be spayed/neutered prior to being put up for adoption. The adoption fee will also include current vaccines and a microchip. This is a problem that many shelters are having right now and we, unfortunately, are no exception. Between the chronic problem of cat overpopulation during the spring & summer months flooding shelters with over 1,000 kittens during kitten season and "competing" with people giving them away for free via social media, craigslist, etc. we just can't get them into homes fast enough to avoid overcrowding. So, please help us by spreading the word to as many people as you can and help us get these guys into great homes faster!

A friend’s grandmother passed away this week & she needs to find her two cats a new home asap. Per her, “This is urgent, I do not want them to end up at a shelter as I know they will be put down & I know my grandma would never allow them to go to a shelter. I know she's not here anymore but I know that her dying wish was always to make sure her animals were taken care of & I intend to fulfill that wish for her. “

Details: (location - apple valley, California)

“both females approx 2yrs old. They get along fine with other cats & dogs.
I have no info on if their UTD on shots or spayed.
They are skittish with new people but will warm up over time. I am willing to transport them to any rescue that can take them or a new home (in California & surrounding)

I would take them if I could but am at my limit for animals in my city & one of my 2 pups is anti cat. “

OC shelter posted a listing of items needed due to the 136 dogs taken from the hoarder in Orange CA. Drop offs can be placed in the outside bin or the shelter lobby. OCAC 1630 Victory Rd. Tustin, CA

These dogs will be held as evidence and won't be available until after the investgation which could take months. The shelter could decide to place them in foster homes while being held. The current dogs at the OC shelter need out to make room for these dogs. So far only misdemeanor charges have been filed pending investigation. If charges aren't increased to felonies, rescues need to come together and protest!

Tiger Lily Needs a good forever home, she’s currently safe at a temporary foster. She 15 years old. Spayed. Great health. Good with kids. INDOORS ONLY. Has not been around dogs so probably not a good idea but did live with another cat for about a year and they just avoided each other.

* Real talk: Soooo this cat had a home for 12 years. Her family broke up and sold “the house” where everyone lived 3 years ago. Anyway a family member ended up taking her. But has never actually wanted her. She’s taken care of her for the last 3 years mostly out of a sense of responsibility and good conscience but she honestly doesn’t want her. There’s the whole story. Feel free to share your negative comments but only if you’re going to offer solutions.

Courtesy post for temp fosters needed due to family circumstances north San Diego area

There are two dogs(one per foster) that need a foster for a few months. They are both about 10 years old - Ginger and Loki. They are both rescues. One is a female mastiff (about 115 pounds) - Ginger and the other is a male shepherd / lab mix (about 90 pounds) - Loki.

Ginger can sometimes be aggressive towards other dogs protecting territory and her pack; therefore I think that it would be best to separate the two dogs because they are very tight with each other. I think once she is in a home and knows who is part of the family, that would not be an issue. She is quite lazy, happy to hang out inside lounging most of the day and excellent with people.

Loki is high energy so he needs a backyard. He barks, especially at strangers, and he will howl. He has long hair which sheds a lot.

Sound great, don't they? They are both very sweet. Neither of them are jumpers. Our fence is four feet high in some areas and that isn't a concern. I don't know how they would do with cats. Ginger had cats in the family before but that was years ago.

Of course, I would pay for food, vet bills, etc.

The house is hopefully going on the market May 1 so I would need them fostered mid-April until the house sells. I can take them back when the house is in escrow but after escrow would need a couple more months for me to find a new house because the place where I will be staying can't take dogs. I would say probably through the end of September / October

One of Stellas Hope's long time supporters and foster moms started her own rescue group last year and opened a fabulous "rescue ranch " down in Baja california. She is doing wonderful things for the street dogs in Baja .
From past experience we know the need as well as the devastation south of the border . We also know when it rains it pours and it's currently pouring on Elizabeth and Red Barn Rescue they have had multiple parvo and distemper pups and have lost too many despite their efforts. Meet Bentley.
He is up for adoption because unfortunately his owner passed away.
He's in boarding and that's no place for a dog, let alone a large dog.
He's a great dog, he's about 2.5 years old, about 90 pounds. He's a dobie/shepherd mix. He's neutered, and up to date on shots.
He gets along great with other dogs.
Would be great if there were another larger dog in the home for him to play with. Please message us if you are interested. 🐾🐶❤

We have a very good friend in Havasu that is dealing with serious health issues. He’s lost a lot of weight and is in Santa Monica preparing for colon surgery. He has a Great Dane that he has to rehome. Lucky now outweighs his owner by 25 pounds. Lucky needs an owner that is strong with large breed dogs. He bonds quickly and doesn’t want to share his owner so he should be an only dog. Lucky was adopted 2 1/2 years ago. They were told he was 5 at that time. They believe he is younger because he’s still very playful. He bonds quickly and wants his master to himself. That’s why he needs a strong master with big breed experience
