DCEMS is the primary emergency medical provider for the residents and visitors of Delaware County, Ohio.
We want to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day. And a special thank you to our Delaware County EMS crews working during this holiday.
DCEMS Medic 10, our bike team, and our partners from Berlin Township Fire Department - Delaware County, Ohio were out at Cross Creek Camping Resort this morning as part of a public safety show and tell. We had a great time and are grateful to have met everyone. Thanks for the invite!
We can’t say it enough: CPR saves lives!
Thank you to these outstanding individuals for helping and making a difference. Bravo! 👏
Sometimes it’s just not your time to depart this Earth… especially when you have a massive heart attack while driving, but an astute, off-duty deputy, a nurse passing by, and an off-duty City Government of Westerville, Ohio firefighter are in the vicinity!
Several weeks ago, off-duty Detective Pitts noticed a car driving somewhat erratically, but as he got closer, he realized the passenger was attempting to drive the vehicle. Pitts made a u-turn and tracked down the vehicle. The passenger had managed to stop the vehicle, but her husband was unconscious and not breathing, having a medical emergency.
Detective Pitts performed CPR until the off-duty firefighter arrived and assisted with administering CPR. The third angel arrived in the form of a nurse, who further assisted until medics arrived and rushed the driver to the hospital.
Following successful heart surgery, the family immediately reached out to us, asking if they could meet Detective Pitts.
Upon meeting the grateful family, a few tears were shed, stories shared, and many grateful hugs exchanged.
We don’t always get to know the rest of the story or see happy endings. We sincerely thank this family for sharing their joy with us.
Come support and have fun while doing it !!

Special thanks to Delaware Ohio State Park for inviting us to their touch a truck event this past Saturday! We enjoyed seeing everyone.
At recent community events, including Touch a Truck at Olentangy Berlin High School on July 27, DCEMS distributed bicycle lights bearing our logo. We have since been made aware that the batteries in these lights are easily removable. We regret that this manufacturing problem was not discovered prior to our distribution of these promotional items and appreciate those who brought this issue to our attention. We have notified the product distributor of these defects and we recommend disposing of these lights or keeping them out of the reach of small children or others for whom they may pose a hazard.
Let’s hear it for the firefighters of Elm Valley Joint Fire District who were recently promoted! We’re especially proud of Craig Dilley who is also full-time paramedic with DCEMS! Congratulations to Craig and the rest of the team at Elm Valley Fire!
It’s not every day that our Medic 2 (based in Sunbury) responds with our friends from Westerville Fire 150th.
While returning from the hospital after completing another call, Medic 2 found themselves to be the closest available medic for a call with Engine 111.
We’re proud of, and we value the partnership we have with our local Fire and EMS partners like Westerville Fire.

We are incredibly proud for this distinction again from the American Heart Association. We greatly appreciate our providers and our partners who make this quality of care a reality.

A huge congratulations to several members of Orange Township, Delaware County, Ohio Fire Department who were promoted from probation, and two more who were promoted to captain and lieutenant. We’re especially proud of DCEMS Paramedic Days and Insp. Guyton from Concord Township Fire Department who played bagpipes for the ceremony. Congratulations to all!
We’re a bit belated in our wishes but we hope everyone enjoyed the 4th of July! It was a busy day for our crews but we still were able to join in some festivities and parades throughout the county. 🇺🇸 🎆
Last week DCEMS hosted the National EMS Management Association's Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) course. In addition to training our own providers, we had the honor of hosting several others from local agencies and even a few from out of state. This course focuses on new-hire orientation and how to create a system where the new employees and the system get the most out of the experience. Our special thanks to Mark Terry and George Lombardo for providing expert instruction and congratulations to all the course graduates including our own paramedics Schiessler and Stevens.

Our crews at station 8 in Ostrander caught this gorgeous sunset this evening.
We hope everyone has a nice evening!
We enjoy training with our partners and we enjoy learning from them as well. The other day, DCEMS Medic 1 went to Tri-Township station 331 where they discussed fire and emergency scene rehab, and also did an exercise to refresh on roads in the area on a unmarked map. We're proud to say everyone from both agencies did great with both topics!
Today is and it definitely feels like it! Temperatures are slated to be in the 90's with the heat index of 100+. Remember to stay cool, stay hydrated and avoid strenuous work outside until later.
Also remember that DCEMS is helping with the Fans for Friends drive for Delaware County Emergency Management and People In Need, Inc. We recently received a donation of 7 fans at our station #7 in Genoa township/Westerville. Thanks to everyone who donated and remember that box fan donations are still needed to help others beat this heat!
We want to wish all fathers a very happy Father’s Day. We especially send our thanks to all the fathers working today at DCEMS.
DCEMS is set up at the Westerville Cops and Kids day at Hoff Woods Park. Come meet EMT Noah and see all the cool vehicles! Happening now until 2pm!
Please join us in congratulating Lt. Amy Ritter.
She received her 5 years of service certificate.
