Physical Therapy Guide to Post-Intensive Care Syndrome
Post-intensive care syndrome, or PICS, is a condition that describes the physical, mental health, and/or cognitive problems that may develop after someone has spent time in a hospital's intensive care unit. These problems may include difficulty with familiar tasks, such as walking, climbing stairs, getting dressed, or preparing a meal. PICS can sometimes make it difficult to return to everyday responsibilities, such as driving or working. These problems can persist for weeks, months, and sometimes years. Survivors of severe cases of COVID-19 who required ventilation or spent time in a hospital ICU are at increased risk for developing PICS. Physical therapists help people with PICS improve their strength, stamina, and balance, and help them restore their ability to perform daily activities. https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-post-intensive-care-synd
Physical Therapy Guide to Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction
Read Time: 3 minutes
Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction is a condition that causes pain in the arch of the foot. It usually worsens over time, rather than occurring with a specific incident or injury. PTTD is the most common form of "flat foot" (collapsed arch) that develops in adulthood. It occurs in up to 10% of people and affects women more often than men. It usually affects only one foot, although in rare cases, some people develop it in both feet. Overuse is the most common cause. A physical therapist can help you regain the ability to walk and run without pain after injuring your posterior tibial tendon. https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-posterior-tibial-tendon-dysfunction-acquired-flat-foot-adults

Physical Therapy Guide to Posterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
Posterior cruciate ligament injury occurs when one of the ligaments on the inside of the knee is overstretched. PCL injuries are rare, with fewer than 20,000 cases per year diagnosed in the United States. In comparison, there are just over 150,000 anterior cruciate ligament injuries reported in the U.S. each year. The anterior cruciate ligament, ACL, crosses over the PCL within the knee. Accidents that occur when the knee is bent, such as hitting the knee and shinbone against the dashboard during a car crash or falling onto the shins, are common causes of PCL injuries. Skiers, athletes who play sports such as football and soccer, and dancers who leap and land on their shins with bent knees also can experience PCL injuries. Physical therapists treat people with PCL injuries to help reduce their pain, swelling, stiffness, instability, and any related weakness in the knee or lower extremity. https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-posterior-cruciate-ligament-injury
Physical Therapy Guide to Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is a condition causing foot pain. The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot. It connects the heel to the ball of the foot. This band can become inflamed or can tear, causing pain. Pain can be felt in the heel, along the arch, or at the ball of the foot. Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition. It occurs in as many as 2 million Americans per year and 10% of the population over their lifetimes. Plantar fasciitis affects people of all ages, both athletes and nonathletes. Men and women have an equal chance of developing the condition. Physical therapists help people experiencing plantar fasciitis reduce their pain and restore their walking ability. https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-plantar-fasciitis

Physical Therapy Guide to Peroneal Tendinopathy
Peroneal tendinopathy is an injury to the tendons of the foot and/or ankle. It often affects athletes like long-distance runners, basketball players, and dancers. People who have had ankle sprains, or those who have weak ankles, may also develop this condition. It commonly causes aching along the outside surface of the ankle that gets worse with activity, yet improves with rest. They perform balance testing and develop treatment plans that include physical activity to help improve the strength, stability, and movement of people with balance problems. https://www.choosept.com/guide/physical-therapy-guide-balance-problems

FATHER'S DAY | THIRD SUNDAY IN JUNE
On the third Sunday in June, Father's Day honors the role fathers play in the family structure and society. The day recognizes not just fathers, but the father figures in our lives. These are the men we look up to who set solid examples for us and guide us throughout our lives.
Many families dedicate the day to their fathers and grandfathers. Whether they are first-time fathers just learning to change a diaper, or experienced fathers offering sage advice, the day celebrates everything a father is. Fathers from family to family play a variety of roles. They may be a caregiver, provider, or advisor. Some fathers are the strong, silent types. And yet others tell us stories for days. Fathers teach, guiding small hands as they hammer a nail or sail a kite. Read more: https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/national-day/fathers-day-third-sunday-in-june

NATIONAL FLAG DAY | JUNE 14
On June 14th, National Flag Day honors Old Glory and commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777. The holiday is a day that Americans show respect for the U.S. Flag and what it represents. Representing independence and unity, the Star-Spangled Banner has become a powerful symbol of Americanism and the flag is flown proudly.
While Betsy Ross has been given credit for stitching together the first American flag, there isn't any sound evidence supporting the story. At the same time, there isn't any to disprove it, either. Part of the conflict is there were several designs in consideration at the same time. There were many flag makers and more than one claim to the first. During Ross's Revolutionary time, several standards were carried bearing red and white stripes and varying symbols where the blue field and stars now reside.
