EPISD schools to have 2-hour delay start on Friday

(EL PASO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
— Students and teachers in the El Paso Independent School District will start classes on a two-hour delay on Friday, Feb. 4, in response to freezing temperatures expected in the region early in the morning.

The cold front that brought snow and ice is not expected to impact road conditions, but forecasters indicate below-freezing temperatures early in the morning that could create unsafe conditions.

All student-centered services, including classes and bus services, will be on a two-hour delay from normal start times for students.

To help prepare campuses for instruction and welcome students safely, essential administrative and support personnel in EPISD will have regular start time. Supervisors will communicate schedules for Friday to employees on Thursday.

EPISD schools to close due to winter weather

EL PASO, TEXAS — Due to forecasted winter weather that may create unsafe conditions for students and employees, classes and non-essential operations for the El Paso Independent School District will be canceled on Thursday, Feb. 3.

After-school activities and athletic events also have been canceled or postponed, with some exceptions.

The decision to close schools and offices was made in conjunction with the El Paso Office of Emergency Management based on weather patterns and classroom staffing challenges due to unsafe road conditions for employees.

The District will monitor the weather and make a decision on start times for Friday, Feb. 4, on Thursday.

Escuelas de EPISD cerrarán por clima invernal

Debido al clima invernal pronosticado que puede crear condiciones inseguras para los estudiantes y empleados, las clases y las operaciones no esenciales para el Distrito Escolar Independiente de El Paso se cancelarán el jueves 3 de febrero.
